Nyle never really had a permanent residence, but just now he had no residence at all. He was, for all intents and purposes, homeless and the eviction from his apartment couldn't have come at a worse time. He was in the middle of a big con, and needed somewhere to lie low. That's why he found himself at the door of his sister's flat in the middle of the night with only the clothes on his back and a small battered suitcase containing ... well, never mind what the suitcase contained.
Nyle and his sister Sigrid were not close. They'd grown up in separate foster homes, and though they'd met at Hogwarts, had never really had much in common. Still, Sigrid had a strong sense of familial responsibility, and since he was the only real relative she had, Nyle was able to capitalize on this from time to time. One such time was now, at 2:00 in the morning when he needed a place to stay. He rapped on the door with his wand. He probably should have owled first.

Sigrid Sparrow was something of an insomniac. Oftentimes she would give herself a sleeping potion, but being a healer she knew it was best not to become reliant on things like that. She was drinking a warm beverage and employing various other relaxation techniques, although as the time was rapidly approaching two a.m. she was just about to give up when she was startled by a tapping on her door. This was not the hour for visiting, or soliciting, and she didn't really have any friends. Instantly suspicious, Sigrid approached the door with caution.
"Friend or foe?" she questioned aloud and the doorknob, which had been enchanted with an identifying spell, replied,
"Family."
At that startling announcement, she yanked the door open almost violently and stood there, framed in the doorway, in her terrycloth robe and ratty old slippers, hair mussed and clutching a mug of hot chocolate. She was certain she was a sight, but didn't really care. "Nyle." she said in recognition, in a curiously flat voice. She tried her best not to respond emotionally to her older brother. He had to be dealt with rationally, with the head and never the heart, not if you wanted to keep your heart in one piece.

"Well don't you look cute." Nyle said with an irritating grin, showing the dimples that were the one obvious genetic trait the two shared. He held up his suitcase to show her. "I was hoping I could crash on yer couch." He didn't really intend to take 'no' for an answer, but it was best to put up the appearances of asking politely, it made conditions more pleasant. "Unless you have a gentleman caller." he grin widened further at the thought, then he quickly doused it because he remembered he was trying to be on her good side.
