[ uniform] The truth was, ever since Daniyah's party the month prior, the Ravenclaw had not been herself. The fallout with her brother had affected her more than she cared to admit, or even talk about. As February rolled around she had made it a point to distract herself with anything and everything, going to great lengths to dodge her brother through the hallways in between class. She hadn't yet decided what would be her next maneuver, or if she would even take action against him. She'd considered writing her Mothers, mostly out of desperate concern, but Daniyah was no snitch. However the thought of Kai hurting himself just for some fun struck her usually buoyant self gravely. No longer was she concerned with whatever Davina had been doing or how to bewitch Robert's eyebrows off or even why Cadence was such a weirdo. No, she was oddly reticent. For some, this was a welcome change in demeanor she was sure. For those that knew her would realize this meant something was very very off. And now Daniyah was... actually studying? But it was a welcomed distraction as the Eagle huddled into her clandestine library corner, roosted upon the ledge of a large bay window with a massive advanced arithmancy book draped into her lap and a quill tucked neatly behind her ear. Every line or so she angled the plume and scribbled something down before sliding it back into place. One leg gently kicked against the baseboard as it hung over the ledge, and the other tucked itself modestly beneath the other. tags; open as heck yo

He had lost his quill and he needed one quickly. As he passed the library he seen some students but the one thing he was wondering about was why she had such a big book. Maybe she liked knowing everything but more importantly she had a quill!
"Excuse me can I borrow your quill?"
She was in his same house or something.
"Well can I please?"
He needed to scribble something before he forgot.
"I'll give it right back."

"I wouldn't do that" Dale mumbled rather flatly to look up at Kaleb.
He'd been in the middle of his essay when the groveling began, a never ending squabble of please and I'm begging yous and what have it. It was tiresome really and he suspected the aim of the exchange had ulterior motives, after all, it seemed these days nobody really went to school for the sake of learning. And why would they when there were wild rave parties being held RIGHT under his nose. It still frustrated him to find out so late that by the time he'd arrived on site with a professor in hand the party had all but scattered.
Damned scoundrels.
And now he had to deal with this in his domain? Like hell. He'd faced worse things before, like Davinas awful foot tapping.
"By the looks of it I'd say he's just looking for an excuse to look up your skirt--" Dale gaped, as his eyes finally rested on Daniyahs face. They hadn't spoken in a month since their last exchange and he couldn't see why. After he'd gone through the effort of outlining her essay she'd not even bothered to let him know what grade she got. Hmph.
"Ohme" he tilted his head politely though there was nothing pleasant about the greeting

When the boy asked for her quill, dark chocolate eyes slowly raised up from her book. Her quill? Her favorite quill? The sparkly pink one that was tucked studiously behind her ear with large wisps of fringe that ticked her forehead and made her nose wiggle? Honestly, Dani was in a bit of a comatose state where the quick words didn't quite process in her number-addled brain in a timely manner. She stared at her house mate with that study induced zombified expression for several seconds.
"It's my favorite quill though," she said prudently, reaching for the plume behind her ear and thoughtfully twirling it. Finally, she out stretched her arm and passed it off to the Eagle- One whose name escaped her. Her mind had been a bit of a mess as of recent.
"What do you need it f-?" The question came as an after thought and she moved the heavy book out from her lap before being cut off by a familiar sneer and a rather lewd comment. Her eyes immediately rolled into her skull.
"Well gosh Roberts, everyone knows all he would have to do is ask. I'm such a stupid ditz I'd probably let him." Whoops. So it seemed Daniyah had forgotten her manners today.

Honestly he just needed to jot something down. Why did it seem like he'd walked in and bothered a guy when he was speaking to the girl. He wanted to approach this already dangerous situation with extreme caution but before he could even explain they were quipping at one another quite ferociously, even if Dale had only spoken her last name, his tone said it all.
Oh, if Dale only knew he was more than likely Kaleb's cup of tea than Daniyah. Even with the speak of words, but this was not the time or place for that. All Kaleb wanted was a quill to borrow and he would return it. Easily the simple task would only take a few seconds. So Kaleb did what he did best. He stepped back. This was not his fight, not today, not ever.
"That's the best the two of you got?"
It was almost like they were novice at insulting one another and to think he'd expected so much more from the fellow ravenclaws and yet he was disappointed.
"Someone call me when it's actually insulting, anyway if she's not going to let me borrow it, then let me see yours. That way I can politely step out of the way of this exchange."

"...." Dale stared back at Daniyah, somewhat struck by her sudden outburst. What did she have to be mad about, when HE was the one to get so snubbed by his gesture of kindness. But regardless, he couldn't help but point out the one error in her attempt to make a point, even if something somewhere deep inside was telling him not to. He was Dale, and to not do otherwise would be a betrayal to his name.
"I believe you've got your terms mixed up. A ditz is someone forgetful and careless, which wouldn't in fact require the permission to see up your skirt, like what you're doing right now" he merely suggested, gesturing his hand to point out the obvious ditziness of her choice in where to sit.
"Anyway," he tore his eyes from Daniyah for a moment and looked at the helpless Ravenclaw who was still standing around waiting for a quill. "Didn't I give you my quill last week?" he asked, suddenly remembering a rather similar situation the previous week though he didn't quite know who it was exactly, what he did know was that his precious eagle feather quill was never returned. Because he had not found the culprit every one was a suspect. Dale's eyes narrowed at him slightly, and he turned his quill in hand thoughtfully, attempting to get anything off of the bloke that might indicate he was the thief.

A resentful glare shot itself in Kaleb's direction. She didn't need to hear his two cents on the matter, much less be pressed towards more savagery. When the boy didn't take her outstretched quill she retracted her arm hotly and tucked the feather back behind her ear.
"Sorry, I don't go around insulting people on the regular like some of the present company," she replied, her voice simmering. Her head snapped back towards Dale who was, naturally, running his mouth customary to his nature. Visibly agitated she leaned forward and rubbed her temples. On top of everything else that had been going on in her life, she could feel her composure wearing thin. Without looking up she addressed Dale again, this time her voice an octave higher.
"Do you really have to take things so literally? English isn't even my first language and I'm not nearly as oblivious to the abstract as you are. In case you didn't catch that, I was referencing the fact that the last time I saw you in this library you blatantly insulted my intelligence. Then, you tried to apologize by insinuating I couldn't outline my own essay, which by the way was just a distraction so you would leave that poor Slytherin girl alone. There is a clear typecast parallel between being DITZY and being EASY. There! I spelled it out for you, so that won't also go over your thick skull."
By the time Dani had finished her explanation there was a strained tautness to her vocal chords. She looked up, eyes wide, as if she were surprised even by her own words. A hand navigated itself gingerly to her lips, and she pressed her fingers to them. Suddenly she hopped from the ledge and began frantically gathering her books in her arms. "Sorry, I'm not feeling well," she sputtered out, stopping for a moment and thoughtfully pulling the quill out from her hair and forcing it into Kaleb's hand. "Just keep it. I'll get another one."

He started to speak when she forced her quill in his hand. He started to tell Dale no, or at least not that he remembered and started to talk about how it must have been some other handsome looking young gentlemen. The girl, she was sputtering like something was wrong.
"I'll speak with you later Roberts,"
He said as the girl, god he needed to stop referring to her as that, Daniyah ran off.
"What's wrong with her?"
It was more of a question to himself, maybe he'd find out one day.

Dale glowered from his seated position, the vein on the side of his head throbbing visibly as he endured Daniyahs rampage, an over exaggeration about everything as always, and pinning him as nothing but an aggressor. Why did she always think that he thought she was an idiot? It seemed these days shew as obsessed with the melodramas of 'why me' the part of teenage angst normally directed at a father or mother, though seeing as he played to those two roles in terms of authority, it did make sense that she should make the association and direct all that angsty against him. But this time-- THIS time she had absolutely no right. She sat there all high and mighty on her podium of righteousness ripping apart his very character when she'd never even had the decency to thank him where thanks was needed. Whats wrong with her? He heard Kaleb ask. Yeah what was wrong with her indeed. He jumped out of his seat, unable to contain himself any longer and bellowed,
"You never thanked me for that outline I wrote for you!" he shouted, somewhat aghast at his own tone of voice. He'd never been the type to raise his voice in the library, but now that it'd come out, it felt freeing, he moved around the table and grabbed Dani before she could escape, not when he didn't finish himself, not like last time. Nope.
"and I didn't write it because I thought you were stupid. I wrote it because I liked you" whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat Dale gaped. no... no..... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO That didn't sound anything like it was supposd to. THINK "yoouuur interest in trasfiguration." he quickly added, but he still felt weird. Because it was weird. It wasn't what he wanted to say at all... "I liked your interest in trasfiguration and that's that. You can take out your daddy issues on someone else thank you very much"
Dale turned around and marched off to go drown himself in the lake.
Nothing, not even his books could make him turn back.
