[ outfit. ] Ana wasn't the type to mind her own business. In fact, she put her nose in every place that she shouldn't, and still managed to almost never get caught. Or, if she did get caught, she simply didn't care. During breaks in school, Ana often found herself in the middle of busy places, eavesdropping on conversations that weren't ever really that interesting or following people that were vaguely suspicious. Typically, these busy places were graveyards, and she was listening in on mourners. That's why it wasn't always very interesting. But she was there for the people visiting, to see who they were visiting and perhaps understand why. More often than not, that was how she received all those lovely bouquets that her mother assumed she acquired legally for spur of the moment gifts. Other times, she loitered at the mall. Wasn't nearly as interesting, but it was easier to explain. Plus, Aaron tagged along and that always made for a treat. Hogwarts wasn't nearly as fun. But she made do with it. Today, Ana had stumbled across a couple snogging in an empty corridor. Normally, she wouldn't give a shit, but something they were talking about had caught her attention. Namely, they were talking about how they "didn't want to be found" in fear of what their significant others would do. Naughty sinners having some play behind their lovers' backs. And Ana, of course, wasn't going to mind her own business. Leaning against a the wall, she listened in on their conversation that persisted in between estranged kisses. Every so often, she'd peek around the corner to see if they were engrossed with each other, and then would snap a picture. Her newest camera actually had a damn lens on the thing, so she could actually zoom in. For some reason this technology was lost to wizarding society for ages. While she would still need to develop the photos later for the full moving detail, she could still find the proper angle and the right moment where they did not see her camera flash. She truly wished this hellhole could exist with brighter lights, so she could do without the conspicuous strobe. But, they were too tongue tied and entangled to notice. For now. She would easily abscond if they came running over. Ana, after all, was an expert in the art of fleeing. Thanks, dad. Pulling the negatives out from her case and replacing it with a new, clean roll, she remained quiet through practice. She stuffed the finished canister within her bag, listening rather boredly as the boy began telling the girl that he was so smitten with the color of her eyes. Ana rolled her's, ready to vomit over their disgusting dynamic. But more so figuratively than literally.

"I didn't know you were a voyeur, Ana," Caelani's soft voice was laced with amusement.
"My gosh, you're so mugglish sometimes," she added for good form. After all, she was supposed to be the pureblood bitch here, wasn't she? Though that would just make Ana the muggleborn bitch. She wasn't getting away without a nickname.
"Is this revenge or insurance?" she asked with a nod toward the camera.
If it was revenge, she would want to know what for, even though she knew the chances of Ana actually telling her were slim. Calli never mentioned it, but there was something weird about Ana. Something a more weird than the normal teen angst everyone in this school was projecting, that is.

She turned the corner once more to snap another inflammatory picture, this time with their tongues just absolutely twisted together. Completely sickening. And Ana mimicked a silent heave as she focused her lens, but she was rather determined to gather as much evidence as possible. In truth, she had no idea why she enjoyed having these secrets in her little black books. Possibly it was the power behind it, where people didn't even need to know she knew in order for her to enjoy it. But, before she could take the picture, she heard a familiar voice behind her. A large sigh came from Ana and she flattened her back against the wall once more, facing her unwanted company.
Of course Ana was a voyeur. But the two of them were both painfully prudish, weren't they?
"I'd rather be mugglish than inbredish," Ana capped her lens, pronouncing each word sharply, pale eyes focused on Caelani sternly. Purebloods certainly loved to act like all high and mighty about every little thing, didn't they? It would be less annoying if they mention it every second they got the chance. Certainly, Ana took great pleasure in being a "mudblood" as capable as she was. But the worst part was, purebloods acted like they were the default, and she had to match them, leaving the pleasure a bit dull. If Caelani wanted to play the bitchy princess, Ana would treat her as such. And Ana was, after all, a dirty blooded anarchist.
"Is this revenge or insurance?"
Ana glanced down at her camera. "Why? Do you want in?" She scoffed dubiously, not really caring how Caelani answered, but doubting she cared past prying into Ana's business. However, she had no reason to even hide this evidence from a firsthand witness. She shoved her camera into her bag with lazy hands and shrugged. "I haven't decided what this is yet. I don't know them, nor do I care about their ickle adultery, oooo~," She waggled her fingers, mocking the whole grandiose "cheating is worse than murder!" mentality, or whatever it was people thought when they acted like it was the worst thing in the world.
She paused then.
"What would you do then, hm? Blackmail? Or something more... Interesting," Her lips pulled back as she eloquently drew out "interesting", into a devilish, feigned smile. Hands raised with finger softly curled, like an angel of judgement looking upon a mortal. Or, more realistically, a sickly, hypocritical reject trying to coax out a good time from some fancy dressed normie.

Fancy Dress"Touché," Calli replied to Ana's jab. She didn't much mind when people called her inbred. It wasn't as though they were wrong. At least she hadn't ended up with an extra toe or different coloured eyes (: In response to the next question, she merely shrugged. Caelani wasn't nearly as fascinated by the lives of her peers as Ana seemed to be, regardless of her friend's assertions to the contrary. Of course, that didn't make her completely disinterested. Calli hadn't been put into Slytherin only for her blood, and she was as interested as anyone in information that might be used to her future advantage. As Ana went on to describe why she was documenting the couple, however, she decided the advantages of this information were severely limited. "Blackmail is only useful if the other party has something you want," she said. "Unless you plan on forcing them to stop snogging in hallways, I'd go the other route." "How interesting are you thinking of? There's the kind that will embarrass them until they leave school, but then there's the other kind."

The triviality of blackmail, in Ana's own words, wasn't lost in Caelani, though she certainly was a bitch about it. Yes, that was what she was implying, she was implying that Caelani was boring enough for blackmail, but she sort of proved herself otherwise. Kind of. In fact, this whole discussion was enough for Ana to roll her eyes. It didn't matter what they did, all she cared about was making people miserable. Something Bittel clearly didn't understand, or perhaps found no joy in. She was little miss perfect, after all, what did she know about anger and frustration and the need to belittle other people for the sake of feeling better?
Caelani belittled people because she could. That was the boring thing about her. No depth, not from what Ana could tell. Everyone had their interesting aspects, Ana had yet to find one in her housemate. She had no interest in diving deeper into what she could assume was a shallow pool. Perhaps being an asshole, or even simply giving her attention, was enough to appease Ana's need for companionship at times.
"As interesting as your little, blonde head can think of," Ana replied harshly, "What do we care about other people's lives? There's no benefit to this, Bittel, unless you can think of one. I just like watching relationships crumble, personally." She tilted her head then, eyes fixated and watching her peer. That was a definite truth, as she found a dark pleasure in people breaking up (relationships and intimacy were disgusting to her, after all), but she wasn't about to reveal herself to be a schoolyard bully who liked to watch people squirm. Besides, Caelani likely knew that about her already.

"It's easy enough to ruin their fun," Caelani replied, "just make copies and owl them to the entire school. But you don't need me to tell you that."
Well, Ana wasn't stupid. At least, not in that way. She was mugglish, though. Calli was aware that muggles did things like not give a toss what other muggles thought, and she actually envied them the ability. Unfortunately, the wizarding world was incredibly insular. Everyone went to the same school, for Merlin's sake! If you pissed off someone badly enough while you were at Hogwarts, you needed to know they wouldn't end up somewhere influential once you left.
"Do you know who they are?" she asked. "Or who their other halves are? That would give us more to work with."
And it would help Caelani decide whether taking any credit for her involvement was really worth it.

Why the hell did Caelani always speak to other people like they were in elementary school? Or perhaps she just did it to Ana, or the likes of Ana, where her rich girl blood was showing with a smug "ohhh, but I don't need to tell you that". It was funny, because Ana knew Caelani's type, but in the muggle world, they were on even ground. She was a rich girl, had a good education, good Christian family, and Caelani had what over her? A history of magic? That didn't make her herself have any benefit over Ana, as she didn't suddenly acquire all that knowledge and experience by existing, only this shit eating superiority that was wearing Ana's patience down.
"If you know you don't need to 'tell me that', don't fucking say it," Ana tilted her head, bearing her teeth, "If you're soooo smart, my bitter Bittel, stop feeding me your stale, saltine cracker ideas and come up with something interesting." But she was growing bored of this now, and it was probably all Caelani's fault. Not everything was some sort of game to gain influence or power, sometimes things were done simply for fun, even if it meant at the expense of other people.
But, Ana waved her hand floppily before her, "Whatever. You won't be gaining any credibility or merit points from this, so perhaps you should fuck off, or you should let your hair down for once. You think I know who these people are? That I even care to know their names? I don't. I don't care." She glanced around the corner, to see if they were hearing Ana's patronizing tone carry down the corridor. They didn't seem to. Not yet. "I think, perhaps, we should wave this in their faces. Give them something to think about. Watch them squirm," Turning back to Caelani again, she pulled the cylinder of negatives from her bag with the tips of her index finger and thumb,
"Or you can take this and do what you will with it. This is starting to bore me," She offered it. At this point, she had a mind to run along and stuff drugs down her throat and pass out for the evening. It would be more fun that trying to play Caelani's game. She was only fun when they were opposing each other, it seemed.

"If I hadn't pointed out what you already knew, you'd doubtless be telling me I was stupid for not thinking of it right now," Caelani pointed out.
Ana was that type of person. Calli assumed she was overcompensating for some feeling of inferiority. Unlike Ana, Caelani didn't find public displays of affection between other people disgusting. It only started to turn her stomach if she had to contemplate being involved. So, she thought that maybe Ana thought there was something wrong with her, and that was probably why she was such an utter bitch all the time. That and the fact that the school was full of hormonal teenagers. She was probably nauseated 24/7.
As she'd suspected, Ana had no idea who she was taking pictures of. Which meant she had no idea who their connections were, or what they could do to her. Caelani wanted badly to explain, but Ana never listened to anyone except herself.
"Ana, stop it," she said instead, waving away the negatives. "How did you even get into our house? You don't have the ancestry for it, and cruelty isn't really one of the criteria, no matter what people say."

Ana rolled her eyes dramatically. "Uh, no, I wouldn't. I think you're stupid for even thinking about it," She smiled a pseudo-sweet smile. In fact, she had no idea where Caelani was getting that from. However, the two hardly knew each other, and all Ana ever really did was watch from the sidelines and laugh at her if she flubbed up. Shallow competition where they were constantly trying to one up each other. But being petty when someone didn't point out the obvious? Never. She was petty with everything else, but not wasting her own time. But, of course, Caelani always felt the need to act like she was one step ahead, when she was one step behind.
But that's when lil' miss perfect had to go and actually wave her "ancestry" around. Ana stared at her for a moment, before letting out a billowing cackle. It was becoming so painfully obvious that Caelani was stuck in her own world. And the fact that she thought this, whatever the hell this was, was an insult? "How did you get in this house?" How did anyone get in any house? Slytherin having a history of spawning out Nazis didn't mean every member was going to start shouting for purity as soon as they donned the colors. But that was the thing, Caelani just didn't get that. Whatever the hell was going on in her head was an enigma, or perhaps just everything her ickle parents told her.
But she stepped up to her peer, squinting and grinning devilishly. "Ooooh, Miss Cookie-Cutter Pureblood Princess is getting her panties in a twist," Her voice was as mocking as her fingers that flung around effeminately, "You're hilarious, Bittel. Are you serious right now? You pretend to be all schemey, when you can't scheme, and then you get mad at me for it? Ha. Is my muddy blood making you all bothered because we share the same colors?" She pushed her lip out in a pout, eyes wide and staring daggers. Scoffing, she tossed the negatives back in her bag and stepped away from her peer. Straightening back up, fake smile falling from her expression.
"Next time we speak, Bittel, why don't you make yourself useful for once, hm?" With that, she started down the hall. Perhaps she would develop the film, anyway. Make some use of it.

Caelani almost wished she'd taken that roll of film, because then she'd be able to throw it at the back of Ana's head. But of course she wasn't going to let Ana have the last word, and she didn't need to. Ana was short, whereas Caelani was quite tall. It only took a few quick steps to catch up with the other girl. " That was hardly a scheme," she stated. "It was stupid, pointless, cruelty at best. You didn't even know who you were trying to hurt." "And that's stupid, because everyone in the wizarding world knows everyone else's business. What if one of those people's parents works at the Ministry? The Ministry employs something like eighty percent of the population. Hell, what if one of them is your boss when you graduate? In the muggle world it might not matter but you don't have far to run here." "I don't give a toss what your blood is like, for your information," she said, "but I am getting quite pissed off that everyone assumes I'm the Dark Lord reborn just because I don't cut up my arms like Ben or spend all my time sulking like Noel." She stopped abruptly and turned back to go to the library. There was no way she was going down to the dungeons now if that was where Ana was headed.
