"Hey babe," Lachlan said to her. She swooned a little. He intimidated her, which was a hard feat. It was probably because she had been checking him out in class for so long, she made him unattainable in her head. She had never actually talked to the guy. He could be a serial killer for all she knew. But god was he attractive.
Tobias stood and grabbed his broom, and a little ping went off in her head. He isn't going to fly, is he? She tossed the thought quickly. He didn't seem like an idiot. When implying that he had a friend to see, Bridgette made a suggestive noise at him. At least someone's getting some action tonight. That's when the latest addition to their group started swearing at Tobias.
"Woah woah woah," Bridgette stood, meaning to walk between the boys, but not brave enough to want to get hit by any hastily cast spells. She stopped herself, looking between the two. There was clearly something wrong here. Bridgette tended to not use her intelligence in social situations, leading to some drama that she always tried her best to avoid after she started. And this was certainly a dramatic situation, which she hoped ended quickly.
"How about we all calm down and start that summoning ghosts. That sounds good, right?" Bridgette glanced at Ana, clearly out of her element. "No sacrifices though, I'm not about to go into that territory." Bridgette threw out humorously, trying to break the serious air. She could honestly care less if any of them stormed off, but she needed to sober up before trying to wander to the dorm, and was not about to try to break up any fights.
Plus, while intoxicated, at heart Bridgette was still a Ravenclaw. She hadn't heard of magic having to do with ghosts. Her muggle father had always told her not to mess with them, but that was before she went to Hogwarts. She was really curious about the new magic, and familiar butterflies gathered in her stomach at the prospect of learning something new. God, she was such a dork.

Tobias tried to remember how Kai had gotten them into the house common room. Hadn’t he poked something with his wand? Or tapped it? He wasn’t sure. Well, the other kid was getting up. Maybe he’d be so kind as the let him in to the common room himself. That would be great because he was pretty sure he would get lost in the castle otherwise. As the guy started walking over, Tobias realized something was off, then the boy opened his mouth.
“Rude much,” he said with a laugh, his hand now securely on his wand.
Seriously what was this guy’s issue. I mean, weren't Hufflepuff supposed to be nice or something? Kai was certainly nice. Adorable, a little shy and really fun to fuck around with. Then Bridgette tried to intervene. But summoning ghosts sounded boring, and the other kid wasn't backing down. He grinned, if this asshole wanted to start some shit he’d be happy to oblige.
“You really need to get laid, kid. I’d offer, but I have someone waiting for me. So once again, how do I get in?”
He smirked at the kid. He’d forgotten how good it felt to provoke a fight. His wand in his hand, he sized up the other kid with bloodlust in his veins. He hadn’t noticed him in any of his classes so he couldn't be that good at magic, and with both of his hands in fist it was unlikely he was about to try magic. What was he going to do? Punch him like a muggle. Casting a silent spell to increase his reflexes, he was about the same skill he had went he was sober. Quidditch reflexes were always usefully, whether it was dodging bludgers or idiots who couldn't control their temper. He laughed again, so sure of his superiority.

There was a distinct pause when Llewellyn gave her his little gift. Well, it didn't feel little. It felt like a big deal to her. Her entire expression softened as she picked up the mask, a complete loss for words. She was never given a gift from a friend before, at least not something so relevant to her as a person. But she didn't say anything, instead placing the skull over her own face and smirking beneath it. She was starting to really like hanging out with that dopehead.
When Lachlan corrected her, making some concerning joke toward Llewellyn, Ana's face twisted in disgust, and she pushed the mask up to make sure he saw it. And it was only that much more confusing when her friend explained. "Okay, you fucking sociopath," She guffawed, tucking her hair behind her ears and mouthing a "yikes". Lachlan truly was a weird guy, and he was prone to bizarre jokes. But there was a part of her that wouldn't be surprised if he was serious. Llewellyn, out of all people, didn't seem like he'd be receptive to something like that, whatever the hell that was. But the conversation flowed quickly, and their focused turned to the drunk bastard staggering to his feet before them.
There was a wave of relief when everyone seemed down to get spooky, as Ana had no intention of actually delving far into her own personal experiences. She bought those scissors for a reason. The only person who didn't seem interested was the only person that was leaving, and Ana wasn't even going to give him the courtesy of a wave goodbye. But... Of course things couldn't be that easy, could they? It almost seemed like Tobias knew that there was something going on between Llewellyn and their love triangle lil' boyfriend, but clearly he didn't, did he? It was complicated. She placed her clasped fingers against her lips and watched Llewellyn from her peripherals.
They all seemed to shoot up to their feet at the same time.
"Llewellyn, no," She snapped, "Just let him go, okay?"
"You really need to get laid, kid. I’d offer, but I have someone waiting for me. So once again, how do I get in?"
"Fuck off already, you fucking raisin," Ana immediately spat at him, already absolutely sick of this boyish ego competition, but not enough to not jump to petty jokes. The fact that Tobias was so ready to rumble seemed almost suspicious, or perhaps he was just a dumb shit Gryffindor that couldn't control himself. She didn't know him, but she was guessing he was a dumb shit either way. "Careful, Llewellyn, he might make a nest out of your hair for his lil' mole rat family," Hushed now, in attempt to diffuse her friend, staring up at him with begging eyes and an uneasy smile. Truthfully, she didn't know he had this kind of anger in him, so she didn't know what to do. He always seemed the type that just sulked when people were rude to him, and Ana would truly prefer that at this point.
But, Tobias had his wand in his hand. She stepped away from the line of fire, to Bridgette's side, glaring the Gryffindor down as he made a fool of himself. She guessed this was why Bridgette and him didn't really hang out: He was a basket case.

When Toby spoke, Lachlan's stomach lurched. Sure, his friend could be anyone in Hufflepuff but nobody ever said paranoia was logical. Llewellyn's reaction didn't help set his mind at rest, either.
But Lachlan didn't want to jump to conclusions, not least because it could lead to embarrassing questions for him. Toby had definite tickets on himself, and Lachlan wouldn't be surprised if Llewellyn just didn't like him on principle. Or perhaps Toby had tried to make a pass at him. It wasn't like the guy was exactly subtle.
Lachlan had stood slower than the rest of them, sliding his own wand from the pocket of his dressing gown as he did so.
"If you need to ask, your friend can't be as keen as you thought," Lachlan said. "So why not be a gentleman and sleep in your own bed for once?"

This mother fucker could have smacked Llewellyn in the face with a hundred Avada Kedavras and he wouldn't have given a shit. As if his hand roaming to his wand was enough to stop the fired up scotsman on a path of utter self-annihilation with a bad case of bloodshot tunnel vision. In fact, he had been on a rampant path in the Lions direction and picking up momentum until he heard Ana's voice, and like a vicious pitbull on a leash, her words tugged him back and caused the Hufflepuff boy to stop in his steps despite wanting very badly to beat Tobias's face into a concave bloody pulp. It was an unusual sentiment, as Llewellyn had never quite experienced fury on this level. However, he supposed it made sense- he had also never felt his heart bleed so willingly either. All the idealistic verses of love he'd ever heard on the radio felt like a bad joke, a barefaced lie. They told a one sided story to a very ugly emotion.
Heart still beating in his ears like a war drum, he unclenched his fists and lowered his head, but kept his emerald eyes fixed irrefutably on Tobias. The only reason he had stopped had been for Ana's sake, knowing she deserved better than to be drawn into his own petty heartache.
"Didn't know fucking qualified as friendship," he replied heatedly. There was an unquestionable truth to the statement. Whatever Tobias and Kai had, it definitely was not a friendship, or perhaps Tobias didn't know that a real friendship consisted of a bit more than shoving your tongue down a person's throat. The suggestion that the two boys were even close to the level of friendship Llewellyn and Kai had shared was laughable. It was the bitter reflections of a jealous boy. "I guess Kai has a lot of friends then. Maybe you two are fucking perfect for each other."
He wanted so badly to expunge that ugly smirk from Tobias's face.
It had also been a dig at Kai. A resentful one, that could really only come from a lover scorned. "I wonder what it's like, picking up the pieces I left behind."
He turned his back to Tobias and started trudging back towards their seance circle, hoping to god the Gryffindor boy would hit him in the back with a curse and put him out of his goddamn misery.

As the kid approached him, he weighed his options. The girls both seemed to be trying to diffuse the situation. But while he doubted Bridgette would take sides, he could probably assume Ana to take the Hufflepuff’s, and Lachlan to take not his. While he’d dueled three people on his own before, and won. He didn’t want to try his luck again. Especially since he knew some of them were good with magic.
As Ana moved to stop the kid and to insult him, he decided he was certainly outnumbered here. And while some of them might think they couldn’t like him any less, exploding the ground they were sitting on would probably make them. Though that would be the easiest thing to do, blow up the ground while flying off. It would leave everyone distracted long enough to aim a curse at the bratty kid before taking off. In the dark, at the speeds he could fly, they wouldn’t be able to catch him. But he unfortunately went to school with these people, and he didn’t want to upset Bridgette who’d been so kind as to offer him her alcohol. As Lachlan shot a comment into the mix, he couldn’t help himself.
“See, I would Strangways, but Kai would get lonely without me,” he replied, “though it’s possible he’s back in my bed now. Not like it would be the first time he’s slept over.”
He went from glaring at Lachlan to smirking. He’d gotten tired of the boy’s attitude. Watching him take his wand out of his pocket, Tobias drew his as well. Waiting for Lachlan to make a move his attention turned to the other guy as he started talking. While he continued talking, Tobias didn’t let his smirk falter. Who did this kid think he was anyway? Well, he'd certainly overplaying his hand.
“Funny,” he said, smirking “The sad jealous guy who got passed up. So sorry, I got there first. And you can lie all you want about Kai being promiscuous, but you and I both know how unexperienced he actually was.”
He stressed the "was", making sure the kid understood his meaning. He lightly tossed the now capped alcohol to Bridgette, so that it would land neatly on her bag even if she didn’t catch it. He laughed calmly, exuding his confidence in how sure he was that Kai was his.
"As to you leaving him in pieces, it’s obviously the other way around. So I’ll leave you to your pity party.”
Turning to Bridgette, he smiled at her.
“So sorry to leave you in such poor company love, but I have to fly. See you at the next match." At that he took off, soaring up before turning his broom over to the Great Hall, carefully watching for spells being shot at him from the ground.

Bridgette let the drink soar by her, not caring where it landed since the top was on it. Hand on her wand, she had been considering disarming the two and seeing if she could confiscate their wands for the night like children, but luckily Tobias was leaving. The girl visibly relaxed. She knew there were disagreements and fights around campus all the time, but rarely did she find herself in the middle of them.
She simply waved at the Gryffindor as he left, not sure what she wanted to say to him. Whatever was happening, he seemed like the asshole ignoring the problem, where the other boy seemed hurt. While she had been low-key excited about a Quidditch friend, she wasn't sure she wanted to get involved with that kind of person. Whatever, I'll figure that out when I'm sober...
"So," Bridgette tilted her head to Ana, "Ghosts? Right?" She finally pulled her hand off her wand tucked into her leggings.

Lachlan closed his eyes when Kai's name passed Llewellyn's lips. He knew it. He hadn't wanted to know it but he had, because Kai was exactly the kind of naive that'd believe whatever tale Toby had come up with.
Toby, for his part, could neither stay silent nor leave. He had to get his last word in. The way he spoke in thinly veiled innuendo and brought everything back round to sex like he'd just invented it was what made Lachlan dislike him most. What really made his gloating sickening, though, was that Kai most likely had no idea he was so nasty to everyone else.
Before anyone had a chance to tell him off or curse him, Toby had made his grand exit. Lachlan wanted to stun him and watch him fall off that broom, but that would leave him with some explaining to do.
"Well," he said, turning back to the others, "he's in for a shock, anyway."

Everyone seemed to be gaining up on Tobias, and Ana couldn't help but smile wickedly. There was nothing more satisfying than an dickweed getting cornered, and Ana certainly was down to tie him to a stake and light him ablaze. If they were living in the age of witch hunts, she would be joining the muggles and screaming with laughter. But... That wasn't exactly sincere, was it? Especially in the true light of it all. She was glad he was leaving, glad that everyone wanted him to leave, and that the boys weren't already bare knuckle brawling.
In fact, she was glad Llewellyn backed down when she called for him. She wasn't sure what she would have done if he didn't. She had little patience for angry men, especially if those men were boys, especially if there was shoving and yelling and chest thumping. It made her anxious. Sick to her stomach. It was aggravating and blood boiling and she wanted to tear them and herself apart. It was disgusting. It wasn't funny.
What was funny, however, was Llewellyn showing his spine for once. Her hands clapped together at his comeback, mouth agape as she held back the cackle that tried to wake the whole school. She didn't give a shit about what Toby had to say, his whole "I got here first" shtick. It was kind of funny, knowing the specifics of this whole pedantic love triangle, and how little Toby knew of Kai and Llewellyn (and Lachlan it seemed? Or maybe she was imagining things). It was stupid, ridiculous, adrenaline-filled brouhaha and they were done here. He was done here. She crossed her arms and watched him leave, and she was relieved it was over.
"Yes, well. It's all fun and games until someone goes Titus Andronicus on his family," Ana offered to Llewellyn as a joke, shrugging helplessly, "I make a mean quiche." But, she pat his shoulder awkwardly and turned to Bridgette, whom was along with Ana in the quest to lighten the mood.
"Ghosts it is," She nodded with a smirk gracing her expression, "Everyone should booze up, or whatever, and we'll try to figure out if this pair of scissors is truly possessed by a demon, or whatever it is these muggles think." That last bit she added dubiously, but she didn't care if the thing was actually possessed or not. The point was, they were all going to have fun trying this silly seance and maybe come out feeling okay for the night. Clapping her hands together once more, elbows tucked in this time, she lifted her eyebrows at the boys suggestively.

(outfit) Zayn was stumbling back onto the campus after a very successful trip to a nearby muggle city, that he’d been gone for a few days probably wasn’t noticed much. He was happy, for one of the rare moments of his life. Though that was due to the large mixture of drugs in his system, rather than to any personality change. Muggles really knew their drugs. Carrying a large bag of muggle alcohol, drugs and a lot of what he was currently flying high on, he wasn't making much headway due to his bouncing gait. Noticing some lights on the quidditch pitch he wandered over, smiling.“Hey ho,” he said, “is that Ana?”Noticing his blonde best friend he dropped his bag and hugged her, or more fell onto her. Swinging his arm around her shoulder, as he grinned.“You really need to try this shit,” he said, “or at least, the mix I'm on. It’s amazing.” He let her go, letting himself fall not so gently to the ground. Lachlan, Llwellyn, and what’s her name, the red head. Bridgette? Maybe? He’d seen her before right?“So what brings all of us losers to the quidditch pitch,” he said, smelling the firewhiskey, “and who invited Ana drinking?"Really, everyone should know that alcohol and Ana didn’t mix. It was just stupid not too. Whatever, the grass was soft under his hands, and he took to stroking it instead of talking.

Wow, what a remarkable comeback, as if Llewellyn hadn't spent the past five fucking years loving someone fruitlessly. As if such a shallow and superficially fleshy remark was enough to peel back the callous that had formed over his chest long before Tobias had ever been in the picture. Tobias would have looked smarter if he just kept his mouth shut, but he hardly seemed the yielding type, even when he was in the wrong. Sex was the least of the Hufflepuff boys concerns, as peculiar as that sounded coming from a teenage boy who should have been thinking about nothing but sex, but sex and love were entirely disparate affairs and one of them unnerved the boy in a haunting way. Llewellyn didn't have a choice in this view, even if the idealistic side of him contended this idea vehemently. He had to make that distinction to keep himself from going fucking mad and sometimes, as those diametric views battled amongst themselves he really did feel mad.
Perhaps in another, kinder life, Llewellyn would have let the two live in happy matrimony as it should have been. He pushed the thought to the back of his head and forgot about it.
So as he hardly cared and was also separately phased by Tobias's not only inaccurate but obviously misguided and stupid counter, Llewellyn plopped back down to sulk crosslegged in the grass, pulling the paper mache mask down over his features as shame slithered up the nodules of his poorly-postured spine. It was, after all, awfully embarrassing to let your feelings run so rampant, especially considering he wasn't exactly open about the topic of sexuality. Still he hoped the comments he'd made had gone over all but Ana's head.
He didn't really appreciate Ana's remark and shrugged her hand off his shoulders.
"Yeah. Sure. Let's summon Satan or whatever," he replied morosely, wondering what had happened to the joint he'd lit before his negligible freak-out. Finding it in the grass in front of where Lachlan had been sitting, still cherried, he plucked it up and lifted the bottom half of his mask to take several healthy puffs. Skipping over Lachlan this time he passed it off to Bridgette, as per the usual clockwise etiquette. Without looking in the boys direction, Llewellyn nodded a solemn greeting in regards to Zayn's arrival, but focused his attention instead on one of the lit candles, dipping his fingers exploratively in the wax and letting the thick droplets slide down his fingers.

Lachlan flopped to the ground next to Llewellyn. He was disconcerted by the evening's revelations, but since everything had settled down, he pushed it all to the back of his mind for now.
"Kay, how does this work?" he asked. "Do we all have to ask it a question or something?"
His entire knowledge of summoning spirits came from those films in muggle studies.

There was something about the little fit that Llewellyn was throwing that just really, really pissed Ana off. Of course, she didn't understand his feelings or why he was so mad about the things Tobias said. They were meaningless, empty, just things he said to get under his skin. She supposed Llewellyn had done the same, but he was stupid and regretful. Tobias was just cocky. Ana said dumb things when she was upset, hence the quiche comment, but... Llewellyn was being bratty. Stubborn. He was hurt over his own choices. She wanted to be empathetic, but couldn't.
She gave the back of his head a death glare, with a shitty scoff to follow. There wasn't even room for the banter she set herself up for, where one of them could have jokingly said, "Okay, you sociopath," as she did to Lachlan, and she would have thrown a pretend fit and they would all laugh. And it would have been Good.
Ana was totally blaming Llewellyn for ruining this little party thing.
She would forgive him for it, eventually. "Well, I guess the piss bucket is in that corner, for all those interested," Pointing at the now toppled Hufflepuff, letting her aggression get the best of her. He'd forgive her, too. Probably.
But this was interrupted by the sudden presence of Edgelord Extraordinaire, hanging over her shoulder and smelling of various substances. She hardly noticed him tumble up in the gothest looking attire she ever did have the sorry sight to see, but nonetheless... He was a fitting body for the circle, and possibly the least likely to start needless shit, seeing as he was too angst-driven and too high to do much.
"Pathetic," She murmured as she let him drop to the ground. However, she squatted beside him, tongue exposed to the stud in the center, at her last limits and accepting any kind of pop he was willing to give her. He was possibly the only person around who she would allow that close to her mouth nowadays.
"We're having a seance," Ana informed him, "Or whatever. Something. Just sit up and we'll poke around at a pair of scissors." Standing up now, she took her place beside Llewellyn once more, mask falling over her face as she pulled her materials out of her bag. A rounded, purple cloth with silky tassles; a few more candles; a golden incense holder, possibly fake, Ana didn't really care; and the antique grafting scissors themselves, last but not least. Placing the scissors in the center, case open, she surrounded it with six candles, two of which being Llewellyn's. The incense burned beside her, the scent of "Moonlight Iris" wafting from within. Whatever that even meant.
Offering her hands to the figures beside her, she cleared her throat. "Okay, so. We need to hold hands. The saying goes, 'Don't break the circle,' so... Don't break it. We don't want some lonely ghost following us around the rest of our miserable lives," She grinned sarcastically, not necessarily believing her own words, but. While she would rather not hold hands with Bridgette, these rules existed for a reason. And it wasn't like she couldn't stomach to be near a girl... She had picked the people she picked because she could touch them without cringing, Bridgette being the outlier, though she wouldn't tell them that.

Bridgette took the joint happily, taking in a breath. She didn't smoke often, and was proud when she didn't cough up her lungs immediately. Holding her breath, she passed the joint along, welcoming the tight feeling in her chest from holding her breath. It was nice to feel a little pain when she was so dulled by the alcohol. She let out her smoke-filled lungs, watching the white cloud swirl in front of her. "Thanks," she gave to Llewellyn, looking back to Ana, who had now taken dominion over the group. "Well, I guess the piss bucket is in that corner..." She spat, and Bridgette laughed, clear, cool air filling her lungs. She felt a warmness in her belly from the alcohol and the now partially salvaged night.
Bridgette saw the scene swirl in front of her, and watched Ana's white hands placing the setup. She had originally been interested in the whole event, but was now sitting back and watching like a TV show before her. Bridgette didn't laugh at the quip about ghosts following them around - she wasn't sure whether she believed that or not.
Bridgette was a little psyched that she got to sit next to Ana. Like a fucking middle schooler, shut up. She told herself. But she couldn't help but think there was electricity between them when she reached out to touch her hand. Bridgette was suddenly glad her nails were painted.
She uneventfully grabbed Llewellyn's hand.

He was pretty sure she said something before she kneeled down next to him, but he didn't catch it. The grass was too soft. As she opened her mouth, he dropped in the several different pills that he was flying high on. He’d kept those on his person. But he needed to get his bag, to offer anyone else anything. Or to make sure no one took it. Sitting up he crawled over to his bag and dragged it back over to the circle. There was way to many illegal substances in that bag for him to even start to count the years he'd spend for possesion if someone found it. Though that was if he'd been a muggle. As a wizard he could just confund the authorities and leave. Really it was his drug habit which kept the muggle to wizard money exchange so reasonable. But apparently it was seance time. Whatever that was. Ana wanted to do it, so that would be interesting at least. Taking Ana’s hand and then Lachlan’s hand, he sat up looking forward.
Until he noticed who else was holding Ana’s hand. He wasn’t an idiot. Well not entirely. He knew his friend wasn’t as straight as she claimed, but he let it go. She’d do whatever it was that she wanted to do and that would be that. Happy or not. Well, whatever Ana could handle her own affairs. Or at least she could handle them better than Zayn could.
“So what now?” he asked, looking around the circle.
