It had been a few days since Selina had broken into the Headmaster’s office and managed to get away. It had been silly to think that there was something terribly wrong with him. Headmaster Murphy had welcomed the Potions Mistress into his office and had listened attentively to her concerns. The details didn’t matter, and Selina couldn’t quite recall them at the moment, but she had left his office feeling more confident in his leadership. Murphy had not only advised her how to deal with the students that had been copying each other’s homework, but he had also laid her concerns about his behaviour (whatever they had been) to rest. The invitation to a staff gathering had been unexpected, but Selina supposed that she and her colleagues should socialize every once in awhile. It felt a little forced but the Ravenclaw alumnus took her time getting dressed. It wasn’t often that she wasn’t sweating over a cauldron or pacing between students, so she took care in making herself presentable when the occasions came along. Entering the room just after the Headmaster, she offered him a friendly smile, again grateful for his assistance. The details didn’t matter, and Selina couldn’t quite recall them, but she was no longer apprehensive around him as she once did. In fact, she couldn’t even remember why she had felt so in the first place. Walking over to where she already found a few coworkers indulging in the spirits, she offered them a smile and poured herself a drink. “Did I miss anything yet?”

Trent's dog-level alert stare had seemed to miss the cat that slipped in through the door, only catching her as she floated before him; like she was on the prowl to cross as many paths as possible. She probably gave the entire room bad luck just by existing within their numbers. Green eyes followed her, side eyeing her ridiculous ritual. "If anyone here is poisoning anyone, it's her. Fucking lunatic. You better Gandalf up, old man, else she's going Snow White on our asses," Trent whispered to Mercutio. He didn't really care if the guy said anything back. But, he pushed himself from the table, ready to stick his nose in places he wasn't supposed to... When Murphy decided to show up. Trent leaned back onto the table once more, paper plate tapping against his lips. There were too many serial killers in this school, Trent realized then. Too many people out for blood. Trent was one of them, at times, but damn if he wasn't disappointed to see the headmaster show up. The guy saved Trent from the streets, of course, but he also turned into a creep. Creepier than Trent's creepy. Well, Mercedes was being double teamed anyway. Trent only regretted he didn't harass her faster, as dying to a hot babe sounded a bit more exciting than being near Murphy in any form. Even worse! Murphy was serving the cake! Humming like they were in their very own horror film! Trent side eyed him, too, eyebrows furrowed in judgment, never the type to have tact. "Sir," He replied, nodding and keeping his gaze down. Trent was never really good with authority. He really, really wished that Murphy wouldn't ask him about his classes. They both knew that he didn't fucking teach unless he had to. Casually, he placed a piece of cake onto his plate, as if he wasn't The Fuck Up of the Hogwarts staff. Grinning a fake grin, lips pinched back like a teenage boy who just got caught with a misdemeanor, he turned to the Headmaster with the brevity and bravery only a stupid fucking Gryffindor like him could muster. "We analyzed a muggle film, Scream. Everyone had the chance to learn the complexity of a cellphone, to prepare them for their upcoming tests that would inevitably touch on its nuances," It wasn't a complete lie. They did very little work, but someone totally asked him what the hell a cellphone was, and he explained the logistics of it. It didn't help that the movie seemed to misunderstand and overestimate the capabilities of teenage boys with a little too much free time on their hands. It seemed like a film, in spite of this, that Murphy would like very much. Hell, the title described perfectly what Trent wanted to do every time he saw Murphy's ugly mug.

"Got my staff of power right here," Mercutio said as he piled his plate with an assortment of cheeses and gestured to his pool cue with his elbow, knocking it to the floor.
That was probably enough for now, if there was such thing as enough cheese. He retrieved the cue and retreated to a chair in the corner, in the hopes of observing this little party before Murphy committed any atrocities. It was only a matter of time, in Mercutio's opinion.

Why was this man's plate so full of cheese, not that it mattered and what was the murphy speaking of, that thought crossed her mind at least until she seen Parker. Then she seen Balthier and then she seen Selina. The woman had great taste in clothing something Olivia was going to mention to her when she got the chance. At the moment though she made her way over to Parker.
Olivia "I don't mean this as an insult, but what are you doing here?"
She had only ever known Parker to show up at one other time and that was never good.

youwereaskingforit* Careful what you say and who you say it to. Maybe you talk too much and you were asking for it, asking for it. You can blame bad luck, but you were asking for it, asking for it. When all is said and done, you need to tie your tongue. Cause when you spit on everyone you are, you are asking for it The doors had crashed against the wall causing Zach to turn in that direction. He sighed relief as he sat Matthew Smith walk through the door, he finally felt normal for a moment. Not like he was being suffocated by the weirdness in the air. " Hey, " he smiled as he high fived his friend and raised his glass, " Oh absolutely." Zach smiled, of course he was already at it, he poured himself another drink and downed it with Matt. " You can't be offered free booze and not make the most of it. " The whisky burned his throat and he could feel himself start to relax as he gazed around the room. Murphy was talking with Travis and it became clearer why they were here. Murphy. Zach had been naive in thinking that this would be an actual party without some ulterior motive, he filled his glass again. He thought about leaving before the headmaster had a chance to walk his way, but why let the drink go to waste? Zach smiled and raised his glass as Selina Roy approached. He offered her the decanter, admiring her beauty. She was dressed gorgeously and he couldn't help but look her up and down before replying to her and Matt's quesions. " So far no, nothing has really happened. But I got a weird feeling, y'know? Like a calm before the storm kind of thing. " He shot quick glances at the trio before him. " Oh well, let's get shit-faced and see what happens! " A large smile crossed his face and he offered his glass as a toast.

She shook her head. She wanted to hear what was going on but at the same time she knew that she needed to answer Olivia. So she slightly leaned in as to appear not rude but what did it truly matter since thankfully everyone was somewhat preoccupied.
"Same as you, teaching."
She looked her straight in the face dead serious.
"I know this isn't either one of our first rodeos but do not let my presence here throw you off."
At least they were on even playing field this time. Parker winked at her.
"Come on, don't tense up now."

When a hand waved her wand away from her drink a dark brow raised high onto her forehead and her grip stiffened on the hilt of her dainty, but capable wand. It was with a hard-nosed look that she watched Zach throw back the drink like an overgrown fraternity crony without so much as an afterthought. At least it laid her suspicions to rest, seeing as the Professor was not readily convulsing on the floor nor growing any new appendages, but she was not nearly so keen to satiate her thirst. He had just walked in the door and he was already on his third beverage? Mercedes liked to drink, probably a bit more than your average moderately alcoholic teacher stereotype, but she also wasn't about to do keg stands and shotgun beers like Mr. Sterns, who had apparently long since rebuffed the idea of becoming an adult. At least, not before she was a couple beverages deep. Her coworkers had remained on strictly professional footing, and Mercedes had every intention of keeping it that way. Suddenly, she heeded the voice of Professor Murphy and stepped back slightly glancing across the room to spot the Headmaster interrogating the tall, sloppy muggle studies professor. Straining her ears for several moments she listened in before someone burst noisily through the doors. Noting Matthew's reprehensible entrance and overt wandering eyes, she lifted her own glass and delicately clinked it to his, going as far as to entertain the idea of decorum, reminding her impatient self that he actually was still but a babe in the woods, unlike Zachary who simply behaved like one. Disgusted by the blatant show of boyish camaraderie she sipped fastidiously from her glass, the amber whiskey offering her tastebuds a pleasantly combustible sensation before sliding down her throat. As the Potions Mistress joined them Mercedes couldn't help but to notice that she was not the only one caught up by her enticing debut, but she would leave the carnal pursuits up to the boys. When Zach offered a rather useless response, Mercedes finally spoke, cutting to the chase in a smoothly nonnative rhythm. "Headmaster Murphy decided to throw a party but he's pretending it was not him. I hope he fires the tall one," she replied, offering a curt nod in Professor Travis's direction with an amused gleam in her eyes as she ignored Zach's call for a toast. Selina Roy spoken to Matthew Smith acknowledged @konzel1985 eyerolls for dayz The Murphy mentioned Trent Travis mentioned

Murphy nodded thoughtfully at Trent's pathetic attempts to speak in defense of the class.
"Interesting. I didn't seem to catch that part from a Evans, was it? No.. He seemed to be more obsessed with the blood and killing portion of the segment to notice the very fine and intricate details on the use of cellphones" And with that said he took a bite of his own cake, eyes boring deeply into Trents skull.
If it had not been for the very hysterical tear soaked episode he had to encounter last Friday he wouldn't have even been bothered by Trents zero efforts for class. But to have his precious time wasted on listening to the grievances of not just one but two individuals was more than he could tolerate.
With that said he stepped in closer, lessening the gap between him and Trent and growled "Lets stay away from the horror now shall we? I'd hate for you to have to make changes to your current teaching approaches" and with that subtle threat thrown he walked away, leaving Trent with ice cream cake and a feeling that he was being watched.

Ah, someone snitched on Trent, huh? When Murphy caught him in his lie, all Trent could do was crack a shit eating smile. With a title like "Scream", he had no chance in the world to get away with it. But, the fact that the headmaster knew what it was about and its finer details was a definite setback. Trent lived off of lies that would move him from one event to another, and the consequences of being found out later would be Future Trent's problem. But alas. Kids never knew when to keep their mouth's shut. They always spoiled a good thing.
But he had no doubt he would have been found out. The Murphy likely knew more about Trent's past than they ever spoke about. The wolf had a very intimate relationship with trouble and causing trouble, and this was just a more passive example.
When the headmaster stepped closer, Trent moved his cake-balancing hand aside, wary of their closeness and of Murphy's mouth being near his food. He looked like he would smell like cigarettes or garbage. Or, maybe, he looked like he would leak garbage onto Trent's plate. The two were closer in height than Trent found comfortable, having always towered over his peers, and... Well, Murphy came close. He squeezed his lips together, grin still in place, and listened to the old man's words. Eyes searching his expression. He wondered if Murphy was a bear, and he wasn't thinking about the animal, if ya' know what he meant.
"Alright. That's fair, sir," Trent nodded, and he wasn't kissing ass either. "Don't show the students gory films" was probably the tamest, and fairest, assessment the headmaster could have given him. He was expecting a, "actually teach, you dumb shit". But this was a lesson Trent learned loud and clear: Murphy did not give a shit about what Trent did, as long as it still was dumbed down to a professional level. Ah, well. There went his idea to go through the Evil Dead series. He knew a few students who would have loved it.
His eyes scanned the rest of the room with a diabolical smirk, as if to say, "all of you are next". And then he finally took a bite of his ice cream cake. It was much, much better than he expected it to be. Retreating now with his goodies, he sat at one of the tables. Farther away from a few other professors, as he didn't feel like buddying up, and waited for the show to continue.

Olivia slightly shook her head.
Olivia "I never tense up."
It was true. One could put her in the most difficult of situations and she would be okay. Unlike others here she thought that she actually held it together quite well.
Olivia "You on the other hand, well some of us know your story."

The Flying instructor welcomed her warmly, giving him his insight. Selina returned his smile but wasn’t entirely convinced of his analysis of the situation. What kind of storm would the Headmaster brew? Well, he seemed to be drinking a few so maybe his judgment wasn’t working at peak performance, and the brunette sincerely hoped he wasn’t one to drink while refereeing the Quidditch games. The students were very competitive and took the sport quite seriously. She laughed at his enthusiasm with the drink, and considered joining him and anyone else that might be interested. But it would have to wait. This was still a school function and the Headmaster didn’t need a handful of drunks at the moment.
The Dark Arts Professor had joined them at some point without Selina noticing. She guess that was partly why she was the Dark Arts Professor. The woman was covered in flowing black fabric and an entertained look as she explained to Selina what she perceived. Well, why would the Headmaster throw a party and not take credit for it? Surely, he appreciated his staff as much as she suspected. Well… perhaps not Trent. She agreed with Mercedes that the younger man didn’t quite fit in and had been an odd selection to become a teacher. But that’s what Headmaster Murphey was all about; giving people opportunities and great leadership. “I’m sure the Headmaster will counsel him before he does something like that,” she assured her Mexican colleague, taking a liberal sip of her drink.

"Good,"
she said to Olivia.
"Come now, let's go speak to Balthier. No sense in any of us acting like strangers, I mean we're practically all pretty much family, haven't literally been in a while but why let that stop us."
Besides she had a little business to handle before anyone said anything to them hopefully.
