She was in the raveclaw common room looking for Accord. Sadly enough the girl had been on the verge of going crazy and seemingly disappeared. Patricia could not allow that to happen so she was going to find her, scold her like a good big sister and go from there. What she had not counted on was there being someone else there. "Hey," she said to the young man. "I'm looking for a girl. Dark hair, baby face for ages, carries some ashes around from time to time. Seen anyone that looks like that?" Alright so in truth it was a pretty generic description but then again it was the truth. "Hey," she said again in an attempt to get his attention. Oh god, she hoped she was not going to have to be mean. Maximus Kahn

Bad idea going out or bad idea going out with me?

Post by Maximus Kahn on Jul 17, 2016 14:17:42 GMT -5
Maximus felt himself falling into the space between sleep and consciousness. His mind heard the noises of the outside world, but refused his body to react. The sixteen year old raven was seated in the corner of the room, next to a stack of books he had been looking through. A rather thick, leather bound book laid open on his lap. His breathing slowed, his head resting on the back of the chair, his mind drifting slowly away.
Max became very aware of a presence in the room, but assumed it would let him be. After all, he was sitting in the Ravenclaw tower common room, so it was only natural for people to shuffle in and out of the area. Generally, most people left napping individuals alone, so Max did not open his eyes. He heard a young woman’s voice as he sat with his eyes close, unaware that she was in fact addressing him.
Upon hearing the second, ‘hey’,’ Max’s eyes opened abruptly to see that he was alone with the girl. He looked at her, naturally acknowledging that she was attractive, before responding. “Excuse me, I apologize, I genuinely thought you were addressing someone else,” Max said politely. He stood up, offering his hand.
“I’m Maximus, but you can just call me Max,” He nodded, “I have not seen that particular girl in a while that you are describing, but she does sound like Accord.” Max sucked in reading her expression, “I am guessing you must be the older sister she has briefly mentioned. I do not know her well, and I have not seen her today, so I am afraid my knowledge is of little help, but I can offer my search and rescue services at a nominal fee.” He smiled, hoping his small joke at the end would help lighten her clearly worried mood.

She felt her mood ease a little bit. She even laughed a little bit.
"That would be me, Patricia by the way. It's nice to meet you Maximus."
She always preferred full names. They made a person seem complete even if they were not.
"I did not mean to disturb you, I just.."
Dang she did not want to trail on about how she was worried because that made her sound like she was a bit overprotective which might be the case but still.
"She's a big girl, I think I'll just hang around here for a while to see if she comes back. Is that okay?"

Maximus listened to Patricia as she spoke. He quietly nodded, not wanting to interrupt the girl. It was clear in her body language that she was very worried about her younger sister, which Max understood completely. He picked up his book from his corner chair where he had previously been sitting prior to being disturbed and walked over to a couch in the center of the room near the fireplace. He took a seat and motioned for Patricia to sit next to him.
"You are not disturbing me. I am more than happy to have the company," Maximus gave her a warm, genuine smile, placing his book on the coffee table in front the couch. He leaned back, resting her right arm on the arm rest, with the left arm dangling on the back end of the couch. His right calf rested comfortably on his left thigh. He only momentarily realized that this positioning may be a bit awkward if Patricia took his invite to sit down, as his arm would be behind her. He shook the thought from his head, believing that it would be more uncomfortable for the both of them if he were to obviously reorient himself.
"Of course," Maximus nodded to her question, "I'm sure she would love to see you when she returns." He ran his right hand through his hair, nibbling his lower lip a bit. Before long, Maximus felt uncomfortable in the silence and decided that he might as well get to know Patricia while she waited.
"So my dear, lioness, besides watching after your sister, which I honestly believe is a noble thing to do," Maximus sucked in softly, hoping that she would not feel offended by his statement. "What do you typically do in your free time? I've always wondered how the brave worked. As for me, well, I think you can guess one of my favorite past times." Max gestured his hands at the books around the room and sitting in front of him.

"Reading,"
she said calmly. She supposed that she could understand why anyone would like to read. It took you to a place where you felt comfortable and where more importantly your imagination could and would run free.
"It is noble but it can also be a tad bit annoying, but when I'm not doing that, I vigorously participate in yoga. All my partners seem to fade away though which is a shame. Nothing too interesting I do not suppose but it helps to pass the time you know?"

Maximus nodded. He could not help but to allow the smile that was tugging at the corners of his lips to form. Patricia was proving to be ever so interesting to him. Folding her arms across his chest he leaned back, continuing to listen to her talk. He chuckled at her next comment about yoga. To be honest, he had never even attempted yoga, but imagining Patricia practicing yoga made him blush a bit. Clearing his throat, he leaned forward.
"I imagine it does pass the time," Maximus smiled, "I suppose I should ask you to teach me at some point, considering I've never done it and you seem quite fond of it.
Maximus paused for a moment. Did he have anything interesting to tell her? Sure, he was smart, and he liked to read, but didn't every Ravenclaw? He felt himself becoming self-conscious, his palms beginning to sweat. What if he told Patricia one of his interests and she laughed at him? Then again, why did he even care if she did? He cocked his head sideways, looking at her.
"I ride horses," he murmured, breathing in. "It's actually really therapeutic, and competing always scratches the itch for winning."
He shrugged a bit, leaning back, "My horse back home is named Blue. She's a fiesty girl."

She honestly did not think she would ever have the courage to ride a horse. She had often heard that until they were tamed they could be such "rough" creatures. "Well I guess there is your source of bravery because I could never see myself doing such a thing." She slowly watched his actions. She stepped back just a tad. She often found it funny how people were always somewhat looking at her sideways. She knew deep down it was because she was different. Truthfully because she was strange. "No need to shrug, it's not like you're a boring individual." Maximus Kahn

Maximus felt himself smiling as Patricia spoke. Ah, there it was, a slight compliment, pointing out his "bravery" for his interest in taming a four-legged beast. He chuckled slightly, gently touching Patricia's arm, before pulling his hand back, horrified with the realization that it may have been a bit too much contact for the poor lioness. Clearing his throat, his gaze met hers, "In all honesty, Patricia, horses are far less dangerous than half the beasts we entertain at school. Nonetheless, it can be dangerous, so I appreciate you attempt to make me feel like I have some courage."
He shook his head, chuckling a little more, before realizing that she was reading his every move. With a small blush creeping to his cheeks, he stepped away, walking to one of the windows at the east side of the tower. He looked down at the grounds, eager to distract himself from Patricia momentarily. The girl before him was truly something else. Max felt himself wanting to walk back to her and touch her arm again, feeling the warmth underneath his fingers. Then again, he did not want to appear as the typical hormonal teenage boy around such a pretty girl, that he stayed put until he heard Patricia speak again.
"Aren't you too kind, my dear," Maximus turned to look at her, "Are you sure you aren't a Hufflepuff now - loyal to your sister and quite a sweet person...Nonetheless, I have a feeling there is quite a bit of that courage that a true lioness has inside you. Please, Patricia, do tell me a bit more about yourself. You're fascinating, like an unopened book."
Maximus internally kicked himself with his last statement. While he meant it to be the kindest and most genuine of compliments, he wasn't sure how Patricia would take it, "Mind you, I love reading, and that should be taken in the highest regards of compliments I could possibly give. Though now that I've said it, I feel it may have come off as...weird."

She looked at her own arm when he touched it. Then he was not. That was okay, at least she thought it was okay. It was not like he had done anything inappropriate. Still she watched as he looked at the window. What could she tell him that was interesting and still be the truth? Everything she supposed but she did not want to be boring to anyone ever. An unopened book? "I think.." She was trying to think of how to word it. She thought that she understood but she did not want it to come off as cocky or even unknowing or perhaps even as shallow. "I mean, I think I know what it was supposed to mean. Nothing to back peddle for. Let's see where to start. Well my family is huge but we do not get along, well my sister and half brother aside that is." She thought that perhaps they got along because it was meant to be. "In my spare time I do yoga, try to take care of them and..nothing exciting you see." She said as she laughed. It was true, her yoga aside she was boring. Plain really. "Also come into the ravenclaw commons, I'll have to add that to my list too." Maximus Kahn

Maximus listened to her soft voice as she spoke. He nodded politely, absorbing her statements. She had him hooked, and he was not ashamed to admit it. From the way she spoke, to the things she said, to the way her lips pursed when was thinking earnestly about what to say next. His eyes locked on her face, Maximus could not help but to smile. She was interesting, far more than most other people he spoke with. It didn't hurt that she was quite attractive either...
"I understand that. I have an interesting past with my family, so I know how hard it can be not to get along," Maximus spoke, his tone gentle, "Your sister and half-brother are lucky to have you then. It always helps to have someone in your field."
As Patricia spoke, he chuckled. Nothing exciting according to her, but to him, he found interest in normal activities, the things that make people who they are. It was hardly ever the thrilling events that built the mind out or the personality, but rather mundane activities that truly showed character. He shook his head before she added her last comment, which caused him to laugh a little too boisterously.
"Ah, Patricia, our little sly fox, sneaking into the Ravenclaw Commons when you're clearly a lion," Maximus's eyes twinkled with delight, "But all things aside, you aren't boring. I prefer to know the little things about people. It's what truly makes us all unique. Besides, adrenaline and thrills only help us so far along, but the things we do and the people we surround ourselves bring us through our entire lives."
Maximus smiled warmly, "Besides, I really do enjoy just talking to people, especially beautiful ladies like you. That's probably one of my favorite things other than reading and hanging out with Blue...I also enjoy cooking, which I guess is pretty boring in the grand scheme of things." Maximus gave her a quick wink, chuckling.

"Well, this is going to sound a bit forward but the truth of the matter is I need to eat sometime so if you get bored and want to cook one day, I would eat it." Would that be like a date? She was not exactly sure. What were dates anyway? Awkward little things in the grand scheme of things. "Or we can go out and get food and no one has to worry about it. I mean I suppose in one way it might be like a date but we're young that we do not need to worry about calling it whatever. If you want too that is, not that you would even want to." Oh boys. The one thing Patricia was not sure that she would ever be able to conquer not really so to say. Maximus Kahn

Maximus perked up when Patricia mentioned him cooking for her, in one phrasing or another. This was intriguing to him. A girl, much less one as pretty and intriguing as Patricia, was asking him out. Wasn't he the one constantly chasing girls, making them say yes to a date? Now, he had one asking him. His smile widened as she continued talking. He couldn't deny that her chattering away about how it did not have to be a date was actually cute, and quite frankly, alluring. Biting his lower lip, he waited for her to finish speaking.
"Ah, Patricia, are you mad?" Maximus looked at her, his eyes wide. He let that phrase sit uncomfortably between them for a minute or two, before considering speaking again. He wanted to be the one to ask her on a date - officially anyway, since it seemed that Patricia didn't care to call it that.
"I'd be a lucky guy to take you out," Maximus grinned, walking over to one of the coffee tables that had a vase of flowers on it, buried between books of course. He plucked out a single daisy, glided over to Patricia, and did a small bow.
"Patricia, would you do the honor of accompanying me to Hogsmeade this weekend for a day of activity, followed by a lovely dinner date?" Maximus made sure to emphasize the word date, his grin only getting more boyishly goofy as he spoke.

She stared at him for a second. Okay, like three seconds, eh, maybe more so like ten seconds. She was trying to run it through over all her head and at the moment she had no idea if that was good or bad. However it had been quiet lately without much mention of Noah and Cadence and a girl needed..friends right? Yep. That was what she was telling herself, that it was okay to have friends, that she needed friends because as put together as she was indeed, the truth was that she would not survive if she had to be here alone, or feel alone anyway. Yet and here she was still staring. She opened her mouth, like wide open. Words Patricia she was telling herself. She needed words to come out or she was going to constantly be there standing like an idiot, which depending could and would be embarrassing, however for a girl who hung upside down for most of her life she was used to being caught in embarrasing situations. As her eyes went down she wanted to tell him to stop bowing, don't, but then she thought of how chilvarous it might be or was supposed to be. Awh, that was nice and so respectful. Stop it she told herself, do not even act like you notice. It would be rude not to take the daisy right, yeah girl don't be stupid. So she did just that and stuck it gently behind her ear. "Yep," she said as she laughed a bit. It seemed like it had a lot of fun potential. Would she be nervous? Yea, what she going anyway? Yep. Maximus Kahn

Maximus stayed kneeling for an uncomfortable duration of time, which in all honesty was probably fair given he had done exactly the same sort of thing to Patricia just moments ago. He kept a big goofy grin on his face, looking calm and collected, despite the increasing rate of his heart. Finally, he watched Patricia's expression change and her mouth move and begin to form words after she tucked the daisy behind her ear. A response - just a single word. At least it was something!
Max stood up, giving her a big, genuine smile. "I see I've gotten you to warm up to me a bit. Though, truth be told, I imagined a bit more excitement in your response, but I suppose a solid yep will suffice." Max shrugged, his face still eager.
He paced a moment, before stopping to look at Patricia, who remained a woman of very few words. Looking down at her, he spoke, a bit softer this time around, "So then, I will pick you up at one? Or would you prefer to meet in Hogsmeade after you have a romp with your pals?"
Before letting her respond, Maximus spoke again, "Then again, the gentlemanly thing to do is go with you, but I like to give my ladies a choice. After all, I can't make all of the decisions, or that just isn't fair." He nibbled his lip, chuckling slightly, "And by ladies, I mean you, my mother, and my sisters." He felt that he needed to add that last bit so it wasn't so off-putting.

Choices and decisions were hard ones to make. If she said she would prefer to be picked up did that make it awkward? "Picking up around one sounds good." She knew that at times she had trouble expressing how she felt or worse yet making it seem like she did not appreciate anything. "What color do you like, like a favorite color?" Not that she would wear it but then again one never knew. Not that she had much to dress to impress about but one never knew what she wanted to wear. More than likely she was going to stay comfortable in her element and go with pants but there were times when she wore dresses or skirts. Those were rare, maybe even occassions that she wanted to be special. "Nevermind, I will just see you soon." Perhaps coming into the common room was the best decision she had made in a while, she would see. She raised her eyebrow at the ladies comment. "If there are other girls, ones that you are not related too, I doubt after a date with me you'd remember them so it's fine." Okay that was a lie but she found it funny to say. Maximus Kahn
