She had lost her robe so she had thrown on the nearest pair of jogging pants and sweat shirt. She was going to find it but right now all she wanted to do was find her book which she had also lost. Now that she thought about it, she lost a lot of stuff all the time. However she started in the most logical of places when looking for a book, the library.
That required her stepping out of the hufflepuff Common room first though. She was comfortable here because right now no one was here and that meant that no one knew how forgetful she had became but it was not her fault. Nope not at all, she had become too caught up in the magic.
It was an addition to her, not a real addiction but she wanted to know more about it and one day way off, attempt to master it. Seriously she was going to find her robe and her book, all she needed was two and a half more minutes.

Batty watched from her seat in the cozy chair as Kensington walked around the common room frantically. It didn't appear that she was searching for something, but more that she kept changing her mind as indicated by her sudden movements forward and then backtracking back to the commons, and then going back for the exit. wooahh now.. She felt herself starting to get dizzy from watching her housemate reach the brink of insanity.
She didn't know Kensington all that well. But if crime shows ever taught her anything, it was that 1) detectives and forensics teams are incredibly hot, like to the point where she'd even considered a career in law enforcement... not that she'd be any good at that sort of thing anyway. but those abs. And 2) suspicious behavior was often and indication of crime, the violent type.
... So what did Ken do? She wondered to herself. Murder? No no no.. too messy, someone would have figured that out. Unless... unless the crime hadn't been committed yet.
.....
In other words. There was a soon-to-be-killer on the loose, and she was right within plain sight of her. Batty swallowed dryly and sunk just a bit deeper into her chair, lifting her book up so that it covered most of her face, save for the eyes poking up from the very top. Out of sight out of mind right... right??

Kensington stopped for a second and let out a deep sigh. She knew if she stayed in the common room much longer she would go nuts. However the magic, the thoughts of magic. Okay it was simple she just needed to pull herself together and just exit. Exiting was not hard. Still thinking she was alone, she begin to speak loud enough to be heard.
"It's not that bad. It's not like anyone noticed anyway. You did what you had to do and you came straight back to the common room and yes, you did change clothes but you had to."
Luckily it was one of the days that she had chosen to brave water so that was always good. Still she went on with her speaking.
"And when you walk out of this room, no one will be the wiser. You were the only one there when it happened and you are the only person who knows where you left it. I mean sure technically it could be considered hidden but..."
She turned around. Someone was spying on her. Great. Kensi slowly made her way over and stood in front of the chair. She spoke to the girl, well the book since the girl seemed to want to hide behind it.
"Don't hide!,"
she said rather excitedly.
"I.."
She paused a second. It was hard for her to contain her excitement. She had been trying to remember all the names of the hufflepuffs. Staring with a goofy grin she slightly recalled the girl's name.
"Batty! You're just perfect to be my accomplice!"
Finding her book was not a crime, well not yet anyway, but if she did not find it, the way she would have to twist it into a positive scenario that it was lost would be.

Suddenly her heart sunk as their eyes locked, hers with killer kens, she knew this wouldn't end well.. it never did. Nothing was ever okay, Look away look away Batty before she---- too late. Before she could even avert her eyes Ken was already on top of her, ready to attack like a feral animal. "I--- I heard nothing!" she yelped defensively, not wanting to anger the soon to be killer. She shook her head maniacally as if it helped emphasized that she'd heard nothing. But it was hardly convincing, she'd been within plain earshot of her, it was hard not to hear her planning, fussing over where she left the body of the innocent soul she had slain and ruthlessly left aside like a piece of trash, only now realizing the implications of her crime. An amateur for now, but she'd only had a taste for first blood.. what came next would be a series of irrationality and violence.. lots and lots of violence. She shuddered. Batty pressed the book closer to shield herself from Ken. But then she heard what she thought she misheard for a second.. upon realizing it wasn't a mere fantasy. An a-a-a-accomplice? me?? And worst of all things was the fact that she knew her name. "I don't.. I..." she began but was struck with the reality she faced. Denying a murderer would only rattle the cages and perhaps redirect that sort of violence to her. She gulped drying "I'm.. er.. flattered. B-b-but I don't think I'm the .. the right person for the job." she managed weakly. please don't pick me.. please don't pick me "D.. d'ya know Daniyah... Ohme? She's a great pal.. and she wont tell a word... ever.. " Right. Daniyah. She could do it, bury a body without faltering and messing things up. Or perhaps sedate ken long enough with tranquilizer tea before the authorities showed up.

Kensi slowly distanced herself from Batty. Batty was perfect to help her look for her book. She had slightly more round eyes than Kensi which to Kensi meant she might could see both far and wider than Kensi herself had been able too, also the fact that Kensi had lost her glasses too.
"I'm just trying to find my robe and my glasses and my book. I just need help and since your eyes are wider.."
Extremely more wide at the moment it seemed. Kensi took another step back.
"Were you reading horror?"
Kensi read horror some times.
"Notice how victims always get lost in the woods? I mean, and imagine this.."
Her positivity stemmed from the fact that she had a wild imagination.
"You're walking, in the dark of a huge forest and all of a sudden, *WHACK!*"
By this point Kensi had her arms up in the air, swinging like a mad little teeny bopper. Hormones she blamed it on. She turned and looked at Batty.
"I mean yeah on paper in a novel it sounds fantastic, real life not so much. Not to mention picking up a blunt object heavy enough to knock a person out takes a lot of practice, but if you practice enough I imagine it'd just take one good hit."
She swung her arms one more time. She put her hands over her forehead and then she spoke.
"That one's surely out of the park. However back to reality, will you please help me find my book?"

Batty watched as Ken circled her like a hawk, first swooping close enough to ascertain that she was in fact a weak prey, and then backing it up biding her time to make her move, eyeing her with such intensity that she could swear she saw her death flash before her very eyes. She'd never known Hufflepuff house to harbor such criminals, all this time she sat in a lulled sense of safety. There were aliens yes (Nova) but criminals. She balked.
Struck by the fright, Batty could do nothing more than shake her head upon each answer. your eyes are wider Yes.. yes they were, She nodded her head back and forth. reading horror? No no no, she shook her head from left to right to indicate as such. Once Ken got to her 'story' or was it a threat? who knew... she found she couldn't even shake her head. She just sat there, eyes growing increasingly larger by the second as she described what might happen to her if she chose to disobey.
By the time she'd gotten to the end of her story Batty was convinced that if she didn't help Ken, she'd meet the same circumstances as the last victim.
"w-w-why of course I'll help you find your glasses and book" she smiled with fearful eyes, a strained smile that screamed 'don't hurt me'. "wouldn't want to be implicated in a murder because they found your things near the body" she mumbled under her breath so it was barely audible, though Batty could swear she was merely passing the thought in her head and not really saying it at all.. It was hard to distinguish anymore... death was near.

No words. Not now and Kensi thought perhaps not ever.
"Batty, you are scaring me."
So she just went with the truth.
"I think it's the stutter. I just.."
She sighed. More truth.
"I am going to tell you something and you can laugh if you must but maybe it will kill any thoughts that seem to be freaking you out. There's a chance that I left all my things down by the lake. If I did, I'm going to need some company. That's why I asked for your help. I can't go near that lake by myself."

SHE was scared of her stuttering? ?!!! Batty just gaped, as she stared at Kensington in complete and total disbelief. Was she messing with her? Batty thought back to the years she bad been prey to bullies, not that those days ended... but being older and friendly with Noel lessened the instances, the stuttering had only seemed to encourage bullying, not deter it. "T-the lake? ... you mean... outside?" Battys eyes motioned to the windows as if they were a real reflection of what lay outside, everyone knew it was a fake.. especially when it was nearly 9 PM and the windows displayed a beautiful cloudless blue sky with a happy rainbow shooting up. The common room's enchanted windows happened to always show unrealistically happy scenes, as if to console the hufflepuffs from the fact that they were just down the hall from their nemesis's... the slytherins. Batty gulped and returned her gaze back to Kensington "t-t-theres only.. only ten minutes to curfew" she lifted her wrist to indicate the time, as if it could dissuade Keni from dragging her out. Maybe she wasn't a killer but she was insane if she thought she'd break curfew and enter the DARKNESS.

Was the darkness all that bad?
"Okay, let's make a deal. We can go tomorrow while it's bright outside so we do not have to worry about curfew and the dark."
Kensi would try to brave water again so they could put it off by a day.
"It's something that should not take us too long. If we start about mid morning at the library and my stuff is not there, we should have time to come out by the lake and get back by about 4 pm at the latest. Plenty of day light left. That way we do not have to come up on either one of our fears."
She did not want to scare Batty anymore than she already seemed to be.
"Deal?"
Besides it would give her time to pack things.

Batty nodded nervously, as if wholly agreeing on it. She'd grown accustomed to doing as such because it kept people from getting angry or trying to dissuade her, plus it gave her plenty of time to hide, like she did best. She hadn't decided yet if she really wanted to do it, that was helping Keni or not. There was no real telling what there was in store for her, was this hufflepuff girl hiding something? And what was her insistence on Batty helping she wondered. It was so suspicions.. so very suspicious she shuddered to find out what it might be.
And then she heard it. our fears. Plural.
Her brows raised curiously upon hearing that. What was there for Kensington to fear? There was certainly something to be suspicious about. Batty pulled her legs close to her chest and hugged them tight.
"What do you need me for?" she asked directly. No need to be coy about it. "I mean.. I get you need someone to help, but surely by the end of the day you'd be able to find it yourself." spill it.. just spill it already. There's something there isn't it "--- isn't it?" she repeated the last part of her thoughts out loud.

Kensi sat up straight. Time to..well she slightly shrugged.
"Just in case things go south. I mean you've seen where we are."
It had the potential to be a lovely place and for the most part it was but still, something so magical seemed it would have consequences too.
"Besides.."
She paused a minute.
"I have never been able to not find the positive in anything and you..are making it a challenge. I figure after a day of looking for the stuff I need, I'm bound to find something about us meeting. Besides I might not look like it but I have my own fears. Things that make my eyes pop out."
She shrugged.
"I mean underneath all of what we can do and what we are around, I am just a kid after all."

Batty continued nodding. yes yes, right right you're a psycho normal kid. With the way she was trying to convince her Batty wondered why the girl didn't just whip out her wand and threaten her to submission or else face punishment... she'd probably more readily accept that proposal over these rather far fetched lies. The whole oh look at me, I'm not trying to kill you shebang just rubbed her the wrong way.
"mmmhmm" she nodded understandably in acceptance, or seemingly so, her eyes were already scanning around for the nearest exit. the dorms.. Damn. If only she were a boy. But the only other option was to physically leave the common room which was something she'd been against in the first place.
Without much options, Batty exaggerated a yawn, her arms and mouth stretching simultaneously into a loud dramatic gesture "ahhh.. I'm tired you see" she said at last. and uncurled her legs, she took careful steps to walk around Kensington so as not to alarm her and cause her to attack, her eyes remained on the girl, as she took careful steps back, not daring enough to just walk off normally "You know busy day.. potions stuff and stuffy stuff" she nodded. Once she'd reached the tip of the stairs she breathed a sigh of relief. FINALLY.
"SO off to bed. NIGHT" and with that said she turned around and took a full sprint up the stairs and into the dorms.
Note to self... never sit in the common room ever.. ever again
