Owl on the roof

Writing letters to her family was one of the more difficult assignments Davina had to do. Firstly, she had to make sure she did them often enough that they didn't think anything happened to her. Then, she had to meticulously answer their questions without writing anything that would weird them out, all while asking them tons of questions just so the letter seemed long enough and engaging. Since this past summer, Davina had felt a bit of hesitation from them, and Davina had reprimanded herself for not being her usual self with them. Being in a muggle household for a couple of months between school was difficult. She did her best with reading ahead and catching up with her muggle friends, but she became restless after a few weeks of not using her wand.

After an hour of contemplating her carefully chosen words, there was only a page's worth of her small, symmetrical handwriting to give them. It would have to do for now. The following month was her youngest brother's birthday so she would make sure to send him something to make up for the lack of words. Stuffing her letter in a regular envelope, Davina had walked leisurely to the Tower, hoping the small brown owl with the yellow streak was available. He was the gentlest one and thought it would be kind to her parents who worried about their magical daughter.

Rushing the last few steps, Davina pushed the door open to the Owlry, and quickly dispatched her letter. After closing the door behind her, she spotted a pair of familiar wing, and she found her way up to the roof, catching Jax failing at being stealthy. Tilting her head and shaking it a little. "How many times do I have to tell you that you can't be doing whatever you come up with in public spaces? This is the exact opposite of being sneaky." The reprimand was friendly, but insistent. She couldn't be everywhere Jax was to make sure he wasn't expelled, or worse. It would be annoying and creepy.

He laughed at Davina and then looked at her dropping his things back to the ground "Engorgio" He said as they grew back to normal size. "Honestly I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who comes up to the roof anymore" He says spinning the wand through his fingers. "So wanna see the new joke I'm working on" He asked filling his cauldron with water as he began adding ingredients.

"I'm Gonna call it Big head gum" He exclaims. "I think I'll try it on Dale, Maybe Judge" He said smirking at her. "Or I'll just slip it into your pack" He said jokingly as Box tried to climb onto Davina's foot "seems you have an admirer" He jokes before setting to work.

He smiled as he pointed his wand at the water. "Engorgio Maxima" He then threw the stick of gum in with a Phoenix feather (stole it from James) then he took a pocket knife picking up box scratching shavings off his shell into the cauldron.

Once he recognized her, Jax went about his business again, putting some random stuff into the cauldron. Davina wondered how he hadn't already melted through the bottom already. The possibility of using his new concoction on Dale or Victor made Davina grin with approval. "If that's the case, yes, I want to see what you're doing. You should test it out on Judge but make Dale the target." The good thing was that most of this stuff didn't cause any permanent damage... yet. Luckily for Jax, nothing serious had come from the things he invented, and it was always hilarious to watch people freak out. In that light, Jax was very useful.

"If you let me plan it, I'll be your look out too. It needs to be public." At least with her input, Davina could ensure maximum yield and a lower possibility of being caught. Her Housemate was smart, just a little haphazard, sometimes.

"Deal" He said pulling the gum from the cauldron as it glowed brightly for five seconds, when it stopped Jax placed it in a pack of gum smirking. "So how are we going to accomplish this" He asks smirking with a devilish grin. He began to clean up his mess smirking as he emptied the cauldron dumping it out off the tower. He then placed the cauldron in his bag along with his potions kit. 

Jax was thoroughly enjoying himself, He was hanging out with one of his only friends (despite her protective nature) Devising an amazing practical joke. "I think I should slip it into his bag while he's asleep." He said smiling "Or I could walk up and offer him a piece at random.

Box couldn't seem to get further up than the bottom of Davina's sock, the scoundrel. She scooped him up and held him in her hand, softly petting him to increase her concentration and blood flow to her brain. "No I think not," she answered her Housemate. "You can use that on Judge just to see how your invention works. But for Roberts we'll have to come up with something more.. fitting." A little smirk grew on the edges of Davina's lips as she thought of different ways to prank their Ravenclaw classmate.

The turtle in her hand lightly tickled her wrist with it's scaly toes, and Davina looked at Jax with a growing smile. "You know... people say humans are creatures of habit because of people like Dale Roberts. He is so uptight that I'm sure he has every second of his day planned." Jax had the tools for getting to Roberts in the most annoying way, but Davina was the one who was going to put the vision together. "I'm sure, that if we study his routine and habits, we can exploit it and make this pretty epic." She wriggled her eyebrows at Jax and gently tapped Box's head.

He smirked "So basically we need to find out what he usually does when not being an annoying pest." He said thinking. "ok I'll figure out the prank but we need to figure out his daily schedule...." He smiled as an idea came to him. "What we need is an eye inside. Someone who wants to see him squirm somehow." He says. "I'm pretty sure thats half of Ravenclaw" He mumbles.

He looked down to the floor as he began to pace. "hmmm who should we ask?" He questioned Davina "I'm thinking Daniyah she hates him just as much as me" He says. "but you're the one who befriends everyone so its up to you" he says thinking.

Jax made a point; they needed more eyes other than their own. She smiled and nodded, clapping her Housemate on the back. "I know just the person," she said proudly. "But not Daniyah. She's alright but I don't know her that well." Jasper wasn't necessarily the prankster Jax was, nor was he the sympathizer like Davina, but she knew he would do it for her. "The 4th year schedule is easy enough to get down, and my Ravenclaw connection should be able to get the rest and I know a house elf that owes me a favor." It wasn't like the house elf would refuse her anyway, but she wasn't in the habit of abusing their enthusiasm in serving Hogwarts students.

It was ridiculous that Jax would think she befriended everyone, but she supposed it was a relative statement compared to the majority of the outspoken Slytherins that made it a point to be abrasive. Davina didn't go around making new friends all the time, but she wasn't exactly harassing constantly like others of her House. "If we need help, maybe we can include her but other than that, it's already too many people involved."

He nodded "alright get in touch with them and have them figure out his schedule and such" He mumbled as he thought. The plan was relatively simple. "So the plan is we're going to slip him a box of chocolates with a Confusing concoction" He says smiling. "Say their from a secret admirer or something." He says "I'll make the potion i have the equipment just get me his schedule." He smiled evily "dare I say this deserves the most evil laugh possible"

He looked at her waiting for the go ahead. She was obviously smarter then he was when it came to timing. He couldn't keep it in and decided he was going to laugh anyway she couldn't stop him. "Mwuahahaha" He shouted out. It sounded like the worst evil laugh ever which was what made it so much funnier.

Jax’s addition to the plans started to roll off his tongue as his enthusiasm emanated from his whole body. Davina kind of appreciated him for the small things like that. She knew he was good for a laugh and weird inventions, and nothing more complicated than that, and sometimes that’s just what was needed. “We’ll work on the details when we’re closer to pulling it off,” she tried to calm him. “Once we know when the best time in the day to do it, it’ll be easier.”

With that, Jax tried his best to produce a maniacal laugh deserving of the evil masterplan, which sounded forced and ridiculous, but she couldn’t blame him for trying. Shaking her head and chuckling, she clapped his shoulder before turning turning away and walking back towards the entrance to the castle. “You keep working on that part.”
