Cerys couldn’t believe all that had happen after she’d accepted her letter to Hogwarts. The castle, the magic. Just everything. She’d may not have the same talent for magic as some of the other students, but she was still going to try. Her larch wand, while pretty, didn’t seemed to be as well fitted to her as it was when she’d first picked it up. After spending a lot of time trying to produce magic of her own, she’d developed a habit of wandering around the school trying to catch site of someone else preforming magic. Many an older student would be able to give her pointers.
As she wandered around the upper parts of the castle, she started to notice passing the same painting; twice, then a third, and fourth time. Looking around, she realized that she had no idea where she was. She was quite far way from any noticeable landmarks for the young Hufflepuff. As she looked around she started to pout as she continued walking in a randomly chosen direction. She finally an open window, pulling out her wand she preformed one of the few spells she was good at: making red and green sparks. As she waited for someone to take notice she started working on making designs in the sparks.

[ uniform. ] With harsh steps, Ana made her way into the dueling tower, quick clacks resembling that of a woman who knew exactly what she was doing. Ana could hardly be described with any inkling of maturity as "woman" presented, but she certainly knew exactly what she was doing. Prior to this, she had a disagreement with her dorm mate, the cheesy redhead with the up-turned nose (absolute awful human being), and they decided to settle it like reasonable witches: within the confines of a dueling ring. And, of course, Ana had every intention to absolutely wreck that broad's shit, as no one in their right mind would underestimate someone just because they were muggleborn, right? "That fucking rich bitch, who does she think she is?" High pitched snarls came from her, no more threatening than her spoiled cat's hisses. She also made a point to ignore the fact that, outside of the wizarding world, she too was a stuck up rich bitch. Tossing her bag aside, she readied herself to prepare the arena into, say, a place her roommate had never seen before, had no idea how to navigate. Ana, of course, used to arena plenty of times to do whatever. Normally cardio exercises. She was very fond of the cityscapes, though she was still getting the gist of all those rooftops. However, as she prepared herself, something caught her attention... A first year. At first, she considered simply ignoring it. But she didn't want it, like, crying? Or something? What was it that kids did? Ana hardly remembered what she ate the day before, let alone how she acted when she was eleven. "Hey." Ana tossed a long strand of hair over her shoulder, looking the kid over, before realizing... "Hey, tiny... child. Are you, uh, lost?" Missing her mommy? Forgot to hold hands with her Buddy? Something else that was oddly patronizing?

“Kind of,” she said, looking up at the older witch.
She was really pretty, in a I-pretend-not-to-care sort of way. Cerys was draw to her instantly.
“I was looking to see if I could find someone casting magic somewhere, I haven’t got the hang of it yet but it’s all so cool. My parents don’t get it at all. They’re muggles, and well, Hogwarts is just….” She let out a noise that wasn’t really coherent, “The castle is also very big, and I kind of don’t know where I am.”
Cerys talked extremely fast, the words bubbling up with her excitement.
“Where are you going?” she asked.
Maybe the girl was going to practice magic. Maybe she’d let her watch!
“Can I come!” she said with a huge grin.

Delilah watched, she was behind a concealment charm that hid her from view. She was perched on the shoulders of a suit of armour, like he was giving her a still piggy bank while she chewed on fizzing spider pops. Delilah swallowed the fizzy sweet and rested her head on her hand: she was here to watch Ana and that stupid ginger of slytherin have an epic duel, but now the battle between the two dorm mates seem postponed, as Ana had walked off with the 1st year hufflepuff who stared intensely at her and her dorm mate was probably too much of a wuss to show up.
Behind the charm, Delilah wondered if she had any thing else to do tonight, and realised shes an anti-socialist bastard who hates everyone, so no, she didnt have any plans. So why not follow tiny hufflepuff girl and fellow slytherin student into the entrails of dead-at-night Hogwarts, all while Delilah nobbles on weird wizard candies.

Oh, god. As soon as Ana spoke to the girl, she immediately started splurging on every detail she could give. In a way, it was cute how innocent and excited she was. Muggleborn children were always like that, weren't they? So bright eyed and bushy tailed. Ana never had that excitement. As a child, she felt mostly just guilt as she learned more and more about the wizarding world. It simply proved her entire existence to be... Faulty? But magic had been a blessing, a source of escape. She couldn't wave the child's excitement away, even if the annoyance burned within her.
She wanted very much to turn her away, tell her to go home, or to just deal with it. Figure it out and walk back to your damn dorm. Who keeps going up stairs when lost when they live in a hole in the basement?
But it wasn't like Ana didn't have that same sense of adventure. Ugh. She could argue with herself all day.
Outwardly, blue eyes darted around the tower, unsure and reluctant. But she caved with a large sigh. "Ohhh... Alright... I'll humor you, itty bitty one. Tiny thing. Does it have a name--? I mean, do you have a name?" Ana leaned down toward the girl and tapped her chin with a black painted nail, trying her very best to smile a natural toothy smile and failing (she always looked like a rabid dog, didn't she?)
"How about this. I'll walk you down to your common room, and along the way I'll show you anything you want to see. It'll be a little treat, like ice cream or whatever but magical instead," She flashed her fingers outward, mimicking tiny sparks to emphasize magic. Hell, if her dormmate even had the balls, she would run into her along the way and act the Good Samaritan. "Oh, while you were dragging your ass to the dueling ring, I was helping this poor, innocent child. Are you capable of that level of selflessness?" She would say. And maybe the child would get to see Ana cast bats out of a girl's nose. Surely, that was a level of magic she'd fall into a giddy throe over.
She paused, wondering if she had heard the roommate enter the room. But upon glancing around, they seemed completely alone. Whatever. Ghosts and rats infested this place more copiously than actual human beings.

When the girl finally agreed to let her come she grinned ear to ear, bouncing up and down for joy. Not only was the older girl smiling at her but she’d asked her name!
“Cerys Payne!” she said.
When she offered to walk her back to the common room and even more to show her magic on the way Cerys couldn’t contain it anymore, she let out a squee as she literally jumped for joy.
“Really!” she said, while jumping.
The question was what sort of spells she wanted to see. The answer was all of them. But in what order? There were transfiguration spells and charms and oh so many things! She couldn't decide! How was she supposed to pick one of them, well the older girl hadn't put a limit on the numbers of spells she'd cast so it didn't have to be only one. But which one to start with! She looked out the window, snow covered ground with the white blue sky. And a single bird perched in one of the trees. She hadn't seen a song bird in such a long time...
“Oh! I know, can you make birds? Or kittens?” she said, her voice going soft at the idea of kittens.
Kittens were wonderfully fluffy things that her parents wouldn't let her get because her dad was allergic, so she'd gotten an owl instead. First thing when she moved out, she was getting cats.

"Cerys Payne," Ana repeated, standing up straight now. Was she truly not a blooded child? That was such a witchy name. So purposeful. But British folk had such a habit of giving their children names that sounded a bit like they would be burned at the stake further down in life. "Well... Cerys. I am Ana Gray. It's a... to meet you, yes. Very good," She nodded slowly, still so very unsure of how she was supposed to react to a tiny thing so happy to have her company. Lying through her teeth was painful, even if she wasn't actually saying real, coherent sentences.
While she snatched her bag back up from the floor, she couldn't help but hate herself inwardly for starting this. All she had to do was direct the kid in the right path, but she was so absolutely thrilled to simply be there. "Yesss," She said, forcing such a sickly sweet voice to appease the child, "Yes, really." If she backed out now, it would cry. Surely, it was going to cry. And Ana did not want to be near a crying child, how absolutely abhorrent. The only thing more annoying than a happy child was a crying child, and truly "crying" was its own emotion with the way kids broke so often for stupid reasons.
As the child spoke, Ana guided her with a gloved hand towards the direction of the doorway, listening to her tiny, little wish. Ana noted the tone in her voice as she spoke of kittens, and a genuine ghost of grin broke against her painted lips. Ugh, how dare she do something so precious. Cats were a very important asset to anyone's life, within reason. But Ana's own behavior around her fuzzy wuzzy Wolf was less than dignified, the giant bundle of fluff simply melting her into a gushy puddle.
As they descended the stairs, Ana paused to take that moment and grant Cerys her first wish:
From a vial within her bag, she emptied a liquid gold substance into her hand, letting it stick to her palm like a sentient droplet of mercury. From that, she twisted her wand in her other hand, trailing the silk into the air, were it lingered momentarily. Like round, glittering stars. And each droplet suddenly burst into a golden bird, one by one, fluttering above their heads not much unlike real birds would, given that they didn't mind the girls' presence. It was simply a compressed form of fairy dust, used normally for potions. But in this moment, it was a little girl's host of sparrows.
"Was that what you had in mind?" Ana's gaze turned from her handiwork, to the girl beside her. Kittens would be saved for later; something special would have to be used to make them.

Ana Grey, that was her savior’s name. She smiled wide eyed at the other girl. Her bleach blonde hair, black nails and eyeliner, Cerys wanted to be just like her. She was talking strangely though, and making weird faces when she did. Maybe that was something all witches did.
As Ana stopped and reached into her bag, Cerys's eyes light up. What could it be? Was she actually going to do magic for her! She said she would but like, real actually magic! Cerys was beside herself with glee. Watching Ana pull out a vial of liquid gold from her bag, the older student poured it into her hand. Cerys eyes moved to the wand in Ana’s other hand she moved the liquid up into the air like tiny stars. Then! Then, she couldn’t believe it! The golden stars started turning into golden birds. One, after another, after another. As the birds flew around their heads Cerys could help but laugh as she watched them, holding out her hand for one to perch one. However, she was far to excited and bouncy for any bird to choose to land on.
When Ana asked her if that’s what she’d been hoping for Cerys gave her a look of pure adoration.
“That was…” she starting before her words were cut off him a squee of utter elation.
She couldn’t find any words to accurately express her current emotions.
“You are the most amazing person ever!"

Ana crossed her hands over her chest, watching the girl giggle and squeal with delight. Ana, herself, couldn't help but feel the contagious joy in that moment. Normally, she thought children were absolutely disgusting. There was something so uncanny valley about a small human being, as they didn't have human being feelings, they were not really human. She still recalled a time that a friend's nine year old brother stared blankly into her eyes as he demanded she play with him. Even after a flat "no", he looked as if he was about to strangle her into submission. Children just were like that. They were soulless.
But Cerys, in the time that Ana had spent with her, had already proven to be innocent and kind. It was sickly, almost. But Ana had a strong sense to keep her giddy and happy, far from the grossness of the world. Who would protect such a little girl, if not her fellow muggleborn witch? Was that silly of Ana to think?
“You are the most amazing person ever!"
With a smirk pulling tightly against Ana's cheeks, and she tried to fight it, but ultimately lost that battle. Yes, truly, Ana was the most amazing person ever, and she was glad that this child thought so. "Oh, yes. Possibly," She twirled her wand confidently, pulled herself back on track, leading Cerys further down the stairs as the golden birds circled around them.
Another wave of her wand, and the birds were following the Hufflepuff like a staff of music notes, chirping golden melodies. Tiny bells ringing a jolly tune. She was glad that the girl couldn't seem to catch one, as she wasn't sure what the fairy dust would do to her. But she made a note, that the next show of magic would have to be something she could interact with. So, as the birds danced further above their heads, away from Cerys' grasp, Ana began digging in her bag.
"What next, tiny one? Ah... How about this," She revealed her camera from her bag, big and bulky and pulled out in the proper Mary Poppins fashion. "If I take your picture with this camera," Ana started, tapping her finger on the lens, "It will tape you, like a miniature home movie in the form of a photograph. And you and the birds will be dancing together, forever." In truth, it was this magical secret that had first ever blown Ana's mind, and she knew immediately she wanted to be involved in such technology. She was fond of polaroids for this reason, as the more archaic devices required much more work. She'd rather have an instant, lower quality photo, to keep the moment alive. But, of course, dark rooms were Ana's go to comfort zones.
