Lachlan seemed tense suddenly, and Kai couldn't help but wonder if there was truly something wrong. He moved to pull his hand away, but Lachlan's fingers met his wrist and bicolored eyes searched his face for any sign of what he was thinking about. Kai was bad at that kind of thing, though. Blissfully unaware. He knew this. But his friend claimed he was fine, and Kai let out a soft sigh. He knew what this was about, he recognized that tone of voice ("oh, I'm fine, really"), seeing as his siblings were the King and Queen of it.
"Ay man," Kai shook his head, smiling softly, and he took Lachlan's hand in his, "If ya' need a big ol' bear cuddle, Kai's your guy." With that, he weaved his fingers through his friend's, holding them as he would naturally.
If Kai knew anything about anything, it was how raw emotions could feel when intoxicated. Especially when trying something new. He still remembered how he felt as if he felt everything at once while dropping his first tab, when really he was just laughing at a bad movie with Émil. But more importantly, Kai was the cuddly type, anyhow. If someone needed a hug, he'd give it. He opened his arms wide and waved Lachlan closer, as if to say "papa Kai will make it all better". Or maybe drop the "papa" bit. Maybe the third person weirdness, too... Nah keep that.

With fingers laced together, Lachlan couldn't help but be pulled close when Kai opened his arms. There was a whimper in the back of his throat, and he refused to let it escape. How embarrassing would that be?
He found his free hand resting on Kai's shoulderblade. This was how hugs went, right? To Lachlan, it felt distinctly awkward. His family had never been big on touching. He'd been mothered by teachers or strangers in shops more than his own mother.
"Th-" his voice was all rough, and Lachlan coughed.
"Thanks."

Lachlan was awkward, but appreciative. Something that Kai wasn't all that surprised to see, and a bit used due to a few friends. There was something so painful watching someone struggle to accept affection, yet obviously crave it. Kai almost felt like it was his duty to be the one who gave that affection, he gave that affection out like candy. But his touch was sincere, his intent was nothing but good. He had seen the remnants of hurt before, and he certainly knew how to smooth it all out, if not simply temporarily. Or, y'know? Just being high? Sometimes ya' just gotta hug it out. It was an experience that wasn't really well described, but there was a definite craving for love one could get while stoned. Kind like munchies. The love-ies. "Don't thank me!" Kai snorted and clicked his tongue, as if Lachlan was being absolutely silly; his face pushed itself against the Slytherin's, snuggling him closer. It warmed Kai's heart nonetheless, knowing he was helping in any sort of way. His arms snaked around his waist, pulling Lachlan further into his lap, and he held him close in reminiscence of a bear. A bear hug, of course. Kai wasn't a liar. "I'm always here for ya', bro, don't even worry about it." He spoke quietly, gentle in their close proximity. ive always pictured lachlan taller than kai so this looks soooo lopsided and silly in my head

As Kai pulled him in closer, the trepidation Lachlan had been feeling began to disperse. He'd felt like he was taking advantage of the Hufflepuff's caring nature. Lachlan knew Kai was just naturally affectionate. You couldn't see him and not know that. But as he clambered awkwardly over the other boy's knees, he somehow doubted even Kai went this far with his mates. "Mm-hmm," Lachlan acknowledged. He turned his own face toward Kai's, and managed an angle looking down at what he now realised was a perfect pout. Well, not a pout as such, it wasn't like Kai was doing it on purpose. He just... something jolted through Lachlan at the fleeting thought of texture and taste. Lachlan's about half an inch taller, so they probably are lopsided also not much in that. sorries. he gets a bit lost in his own head at times like this

Lachlan weighed a lot less than Kai had expected. Perhaps he expected him to be a bit heavier due to how he actually used his body to work out. Kai was lean as well, but he was a runner more than anything. He played the occasional sport, but typically just skated around. Quidditch required very little effort, in his honest opinion, and his upper arms were only tight due to throwing medicine balls around. But notably, Lachlan was similar in weight to Llewellyn, though Llewellyn might have been a bit lighter. Or perhaps knew how to sit in a lap, though Kai wasn't sure, as he did just sorta shove Lachlan around. But he turned to look at Kai, and he looked up at Lachlan with a sheepish grin. "Awh, man. I'm being hella awk, aren't I?" Kai admitted and loosened his arms a bit from Lachlan's waist, "I'm a snuggler, I can't help it." He couldn't count the number of times he got too cozy with his friends. His closest tended to be the ones that went along with it, though. One of which having furnace-like body heat that Kai very much enjoyed. ur doin' fine no worries (;

For a split second, Lachlan thought maybe Kai was going to kiss him. But then he spoke and Lachlan's whole fantasy shattered.
"No," he said hastily, grasping at anything to keep Kai from deciding this was a bad idea. "If anyone's awkward, it's me."
"We didn't like- our parents weren't round much when we were little, I don't know what I'm doing."
Yeah, that's totally what this was about. Fucking hell.
"But this is nice, really. I think maybe it wouldn't be as nice if you weren't a snuggler, y' know?"

That was basically all Lachlan had to say to tug at Kai's fragile heartstrings. The Hufflepuff's lips pulled back into a frown at the mention of his friend's home life, and he believed he understood what Lachlan meant without Lachlan saying much at all. There was a difference between forcing oneself to level with someone specifically because of the awareness Things Are Bad In That Person's Life, and feeling the genuine need to make things easier for other people. The potential of bullshit was not only not something Kai would consider, but it was simply pointless to wonder about. The fact of the matter was that scars existed in some form, and Kai ached to help smooth those awful bumps and ridges, even if it was fruitless in the long run. The point was to try.
His brow crumbled and he nodded understandingly, "Don't even trip, bruv. You're, like, totally cool." He slapped Lachlan's shoulder bro-fully, and smiled wide, "Just tell me if I'm, like, bein' pervy. Y'feel?" Because that was the last thing he wanted. In truth, he had no idea what he was doing half the time, and had no intentions of crossing boundaries, as he had no thoughts of crossing boundaries. In theory, Kai could conclude that his thought space consisted mostly of chill jams and how much he enjoyed whoever he was hanging around. If he was by himself? He had no idea what he did in his spare time, honestly. But, with that, he was hesitant on what he could possibly do next without feeling like he was weirding Lachlan out.

Although he laughed it off as often as not, Lachlan didn't like it much when people called him a slut. It wasn't true, least not the way the people who said it meant. But if they called him a romance whore? He wouldn't contest that.
Not that he was in love with Kai or anything. He just thought Kai was pretty and nice and he wondered whether those lips would taste like strawberries. Quidditch players probably needed lipgloss to prevent windburn.
So he knew what he said next was risky, considering Kai was giving off incredibly platonic vibes. And he also knew he was being an idiot, since it would only hurt him later, but Lachlan figured a firm no was better than wondering forever.
"I wouldn't even mind if you were."

"I wouldn't even mind if you were."
"Oh." Kai blinked a few times in surprise, glancing away then. Throughout this encounter, Kai wouldn't have imagined Lachlan to feel that way. But he sort of understood now. With most friends, there was always an unnoticeable, but definite line drawn between what was and wasn't okay. Kai never crossed it. These things were up to the other person, and Kai went along for the ride. There was very little feeling behind pervy encounters, other than temporary pleasure and a good sense of companionship (in some cases, at least, sometimes there was nothing there at all, in terms of the latter). There was no explanation, no rhyme or reason. Kai simply had no interest in pursuing it. It made people uncomfortable. He had watched plenty of those encounters flounder, grow eerie, from the sidelines. It was painful to even watch.
In that moment, he wasn't quite sure what to say, as even Kai, with the thickest of skulls, could understand that this was an invitation. He puffed his cheeks out, in thought. Was Lachlan expecting something from him? Would he be hurt if Kai didn't act on this? Kai never made sudden moves like that. But Kai also had no interest in denying him, as it simply wasn't in his nature to say no to love. Especially not after how Lachlan seemed to melt from his affection.
Go with the ride. Go with the flow. That's how Kai remained his happiest.
"I mean," Kai smirked then, trying to remain mature but ultimately failing, "If you wanna."

"Um, yeah," Lachlan replied, unable to find any other words, or perhaps unable to trust his brain to conjure words that wouldn't be completely embarrassing.
He had no idea what Kai's take on the situation was, though he seemed amused? He was smiling and he hadn't shoved Lachlan off his lap, so he can't have hated the idea. A scowl flickered across Lachlan's brow as he tried in vain to figure it out.
"I mean," he shrugged, although the attempt to remain cool might have worked better if his speech hadn't already been muffled by him biting a fingernail. "If you're up for it. I wouldn't want you to feel obliged."

Through his playful retort, Lachlan's expression fell grim, and the cheeky feeling sort of drained from Kai. Obligated, he said. It almost sort of felt like Lachlan was talking to himself, in some weird convoluted way, and Kai couldn't make much sense of it. Not once had Kai ever felt obligated to get frisky with someone, he simply existed in a state where the potential could happen as long as the situation was comfortable. Did he feel like he was going to hurt Kai? Kai didn't "get hurt" with these things. He may have been a baby in every other aspect, but kissing and touching was nonsensical and casual to him. A day to day activity. But Kai had a rule. If the other person didn't seem okay, he did not reciprocate the foreplay.
"My dude," He began with a shrug, "I have, like, no idea what you're on about. You aight?" The idea that Lachlan was asking if he was okay was going a bit over his head, and perhaps he was letting it, as he couldn't quite grasp it. In fact, this was all feeling a bit... awkward now. And Lachlan, whom was biting his nails, didn't seem comfortable at all. And Kai's hands dropped from his waist, wondering now if he was doing something wrong. The haze of the fairy cake was the only thing keeping him from actually worrying.

He immediately missed the warmth of Kai's hold as those hands fell away.
"No, yeah," came the confusing answer. "I mean, I'm fine."
Lachlan shifted to pull back a bit, allowing him to look at Kai properly when he canted his head to the side.
"Just look at us, Kai," he said, adding a laugh to reassure the Hufflepuff that he really was totally fine. "This is a bit... close, right? For most people? I just wanted to make sure you didn't say it 'cause you felt like, I dunno, ya had to or something."

Lachlan eased up and Kai visibly relaxed. These things may be casual and everyday to him, but there was a truth behind the Slytherin's words. People didn't just do this. People didn't just flop into each other's laps and snuggle. Kai may be used to it, but there was a reason he had these rules and worries and how he was incapable of making the first move. People had feelings, and they were easily hurt through intimacy. There was a fear beneath his playful smiles and touches. In truth, he could possibly thank his mother. There was a time while he was growing into his bones, where she basically brainwashed him into believing that he, himself, was inherently a sex fiend waiting to happen.
"Don't be like your dad," she would say. The issue was that he didn't know his dad. He just know he feared him.
Pulling his arms back around Lachlan's waist with a shrug, he understood Lachlan's concerns now. He felt silly for taking it the wrong way, if only just a tad. "Don't trip, yeah?" He began, "If I didn't wanna kiss your face, I would say so, yo. Shit's all about commune-a-cation. I'm just..." Even before the smirk broke across his lips once more, his eyes beamed up at his friend, "It's so cool you're all worried about me, though, like. Nah, dude, I'm down. I just gotta feel ya' up, like, inside before I feel ya' up outside, y'know?"

It was the weirdest, yet most charming comment Lachlan had ever heard. He had only the haziest notion of what Kai meant by it, but that didn't even matter. He got the gist and that reassured him.
He didn't exactly know what to do next, though. Privately - because nobody ever asked, and Lachlan supposed they didn't ask because they assumed he didn't do feelings - he thought everyone was different. Each person deserved a unique approach. In more whimsical moments, Lachlan fancied that love was like a craft and he the artisan. But what to do with Kai and his craziness?
Maybe the solution was to just be crazy back.
"Ah, so what would feeling me up inside entail, then?" he asked.

Post by Daniyah Ohme on Jun 11, 2016 12:46:47 GMT -5
[ uniform] Daniyah had gotten wind that the Hufflepuffs had been practicing, and seeing as Kai and her had not been on speaking terms since the party, she felt she had a moral obligation to give Kai a fair warning of the storm that was to come. Not a literal storm of course, but Dani had made up her mind in regards as to how to handle the... situation at hand. Ultimately, her principled standards and concern for her brother had won over her desire to be friends with her brother. It had not been an easy decision to make and she often found her verdict slipping back into her harmonious desires, but she rejected those feelings vehemently. No, this was what was best for Kai. So she had excused herself from Care of Magical Creatures a tad early to take a detour to the Quidditch pitch. Earlier that morning Daniyah had sent an owl out to their Mothers, detailing her genuine concern for her brother's well being and the illicit activities that he was engaging in. She didn't want to blame any lone individual, mostly because she loved the person as if he were her own brother, but Llewellyn's influence on Kai was nothing short of unacceptable. Daniyah had taken it upon herself that she would put a stop to this at once. So after chatting briefly (and perhaps a bit too friendily) with several of Kai's teammates, inquiring the whereabouts of her scruffy-faced brother, she caught sight of his belongings sitting unattended in the grass. He couldn't have been far. Roving curiously around the bleachers, her ears caught wind of two voices. A familiar one and a not-so-familiar one. Stitching her thick dark brows together in concern, she strained her ears to listen to the details. Ah, so what would feeling me up inside entail, then?Ugh, barf. Carefully she slipped between the stands support beams and approached the two boys with a sauced expression plastered on her face. "Wow, here I thought Mum had taught you some common decency. In public? Put your dick away Kai. I guess... not everyone's parents teach their children integrity," she said, dark eyes pingponging between the two boys. She didn't know the other. She didn't care to. She was getting real sick of her brothers shennanigans. "But I know yours have," she directed her gaze towards Kai, crossing her arms over her chest and raising her chin slightly. Pausing, she considered the reason why she had sought out her brother. "Anyway. I owled Mum and Amummy and told them everything. I just thought I would warn you, dunno if they're the type to send howlers as I... well, never get in trouble."
