Personality:
Mirai Kei is pretty laid-back as professors go, he has the students call him Kei (pronounced K) and when it comes to Divination he’s extremely enthusiastic. The best word for him however is erratic as he can change from extremely cheerful to completely morose in the span of a few hours. He can also be a bit of a flirt, though he avoid flirting with students, unless they initiate it and they're older. He’s quite impulsive, and will move from one thing to another if it strikes his fancy ,meaning his classes are a nightmare for anyone who wants to take comprehensive notes.
He takes his subject fairly seriously however. Unlike the course fifty years ago, it's no longer an easy A. Since it requires something that can't be learned however he tries to stress that on the first class. No mater how hard you try, if you don't have the innate ability you won't be able to preform proper divination. It's nothing about your skill or how hard you try it's similar to being born a witch, wizard or muggle. No mater how hard a muggle may try, they won't be able to preform magic, and some may get mad at you for being able to. If you don't have this talent, than taking a different class is advised as bullsh*ting on assignments is one of the few things which will actually get him angry. If you try hard and fail that's one thing, if you disrespect people who can by making an ass out of yourself than that's another. For people with the gift however he offers a safe space to learn, without judging you on of whether or not you're good at anything else.
The whole Divination tower lasted about five second when he moved in climbing that many stairs day in and day out was not something he would be doing now that he had a choice. So he got himself a nice first floor living space and classroom, full of all the stuff he'd need to teacher divination.
A muggle psychology would probably had diagnosed him with both extreme ADD, both inattentive and hyperactive. But since he spends most of his time around wizards he’s simply impulsive and full of energy. When it comes to students who respect what he does, or at least see value in it, he’s good, but when students question his validity as a seer or as a professor he can get temperamental. Meaning he’ll most likely hide in his office or ask them to drop the class, because why-you-got-to-be-that-way. He tends to be fairly empathic as well and will go out of his way to check up on students he senses are having a rough time.
He love cookies and chocolate and thinks chocolate chip cookies are the one true magic in the world.
Early Life:
Mirai starting attended Mahoutokoro, the Japanese School of magic, at age seven to thirteen. While he did terribly in transfigurations, potions, defense against the dark arts and herbology, he proved adapt at all sorts of divination. It was during that time his family moved to England, and he transferred to Hogwarts, which he recounts as the best thing to ever happen to him.
Hogwarts Life:
Starting Hogwarts as a third year, he was sorted into Ravenclaw, which was both wonderful and horrible for him. It was wonderful because the other students in his house tended to accept him, and were calm with his random predictions and the occasionally prophecy. It was horrible because most people outside of his house, including professors expected him to excel in courses besides divination. While he enjoyed charms and had a rather good handle on it, and became acceptable at potions, his transfiguration was still terrible. However he found a new thing to enjoy in Care of Magical Creatures. Finding a new interest in the more manageable of the magical creatures and learning about the culture and society of centaurs. As a seer he found their knowledge immense however, there condescension was not appreciated.
Time progressed and Mirai dedicating his time to learning all about of divination, charms and centaur society. When O.W.L.s finally came around he got an Outstanding in Divination, Exceeds Expections in Charms and Care of Magic Creatures, and a Troll in Transfiguration. Allowing him to move on to the classes he like, only taking N.E.W.T.s in Charms, Divination and Care of Magic Creatures. While he made friends while at school he always seem distant from them, like he existed somewhere other than they did.
After Hogwarts:
After Hogwarts, Mirai decided to travel for a while, traveling to multiple different centaur colonies. While he was mostly unsuccessful in getting information from them he did met Mr. Paws, his half-kneazle cat, and ended up catching or more being caught by a bright pink Fwooper, listening to it's song he decided to name her Lullaby. However, he was forced to place a silencing charm on her when he came back to England.
