[ outfit. | kai's dorm ] Studying had always been an activity that required multiple people, in Kai's opinion. He liked having someone with him, as he wasn't so great at it, and perhaps he sorta liked the distraction. And while, normally, there'd be light distraction with a lot of studying, depending on the person, he kinda realized that Tobias wasn't the best person to study with. Because Tobias, himself, was a rather large distraction, and Kai focused very little on his studying, despite how much he wanted to. If it had been his dormmate, that would have meant that they would drift off in sleep, in mindless talking, or in some form of a makeshift jam session. With Tobias, it meant a multitude of other things. But, particularly, it meant Kai often spaced out. Enjoyed the presence of his boyfriend. He didn't feel compelled to worry about things. Also, like, Tobias had wicked eyes. His corner of the room wasn't the cleanest, but it was a bit more organized in comparison to the rest of the room. Kai wasn't particularly invested in keeping himself tidy, but he had cleaned his bed of clothes so the two of them could sit on it and that seemed to change the game quite a bit. It was less oppressive. Just books and trinkets thrown about. He still wondered if Tobias minded, as he was such a tidy guy. Clean cut and rich and all that. Kai had showered and shaved and put on clean clothes, and yet he still twirled a dark brown curl in his fingers, considering if he had done enough. "So, like... What are the spiss-if-ick-ations of Devil's Snare, anyway? Is it only sunlight or could you smoke one out and it'd back the fuck down?" Bicolored eyes picked themselves up from the book that laid in his crossed legs, pen tapping on the page like a drumstick. He was smirking, because he was partially joking, but he figured Tobias was smart and knew the specifics of these things. While Kai was raised with a magic family, he was not well educated, and most of his childhood was spent digging worms up and getting the snot beat out of him. A Durmstrang boy was smart, right? Kai liked the thought.

( outfit) Tobias normally didn't study with other people. Or at least, he didn't get anything done when he studied with people. He had his own way of studying late at night and over breaks in such a way that kept him in the top ten without looking like he actually did any work. It was an imagine thing, he knew it and he accepted it. After he'd come over he'd ditched his shirts, shoes and pants on the floor, if he though hogwarts castle was warm, the Hufflepuff common room really too the cake on heat in the middle of winter. Lying in the bed with his socks, boxers and necklace he was spending most of his time starting at Kai as he tried to work rather than doing any work of his own. He did most of his homework as soon as he received it, so he didn't have any pressing assignments. He was relaxing watching him as he started talking, about herbology of all things. Devil's snare, a ridiculous plant which liked to strangle people. "Fire or light works," he said "And if you use your brain instead of fighting, it lets you go."Grinning, he tossed to book on the floor, taking both his wrists he pushed Kai up. Moving till Kai was lying on his back with Tobias on top. His room was clean, neat even. He really was adorable. Staring into his mismatched eyes, he gave him a kiss on the nose.
"If we were to go anywhere, or do anything?" he stared down at him smiling, "What would you want to do? Sky's the limit."He loved this part of the relationship. Before anything could go wrong, when it was just smiles and kisses and planning a lifetime of adventure. Before the trivialities and petty fights got in the way. Before he decided to run. He smiled at him, propping himself up with his left arm he let go of Kai's wrist to trace lines on his face. He really was beautiful. In a naive, sort of way despite, Tobias assumed, how hard his life had been. You don't act like Kai did and have an easy home life. Considering the amount of people who were mad that they were together, he knew the boy was well liked. Probably more than he knew. But part of the point was keeping him from being reminded of that. Keep him thinking that he was the one who loved him the most. Maybe he'd actually stay this time. He definitely wanted too. Maybe for once the words could be more than empty promises and blissful lies.

Kai nodded slowly, eyes wide, "Devil's Snare is chill as hell, it just wants people to hang out." But it had a wicked temper, so Kai couldn't really level with it, y'know? If someone didn't wanna chill, that was cool with Kai. But he definitely understood, and would bear that in mind if he ever encountered it. If he could avoid unnecessary conflict, he definitely would. That's sort of why he even thought about "smoking it out", because that seemed like the most relaxing option. He was out of focus again because of this, and it was only when Tobias tossed his book aside that he snapped out of it.
His own book slipped out of his waist, and with his boyfriend's guidance, he laid back against the pillows. Kai used to have the habit of pulling his arm away if someone grabbed his wrist, but as he aged and grew and relaxed, it became less and less of an instinct. It was a boyish thing, anyhow. Avoiding bullies on the playground, or even mates trying to look for a playful tussle. He learned, from siblings dragging him along, from girls pulling him into empty bedrooms, from boys pulling him into broom closets... that it wasn't something to get defensive about.
He thought on Tobias' question; he squinted at the curtains above them, clicking his tongue rhythmically in ponder. "Ireland is where my heart is, kind of," He began, "From Ireland, after all. Northern Ireland. Mum's, like, suuuuper Irish. We visit in the summer, normally the beaches, and, like, I really like that. But..." His gaze turned back to Tobias, smirking silly and shrugging, "I guess... On the, like, greater scope of things, I wanna visit, like, Australia. Surf capital. Super hot. Barbecue n' shit. Sounds amazing."
Also kinda, sorta sounded like the direct opposite of something Tobias would want based on what he knew of him. That kinda sucked, didn't it? Kai wondered if he was missing the point.
"What about you?" He asked, pulling his hand from his chest and draping his arm over the Gryffindor's shoulder. Socked feet wiggled to a nonexistent beat. He couldn't say he ever experienced this type of relationship before, and it felt ridiculously good.

Ireland huh? He’d personally never been, too busy going to school in Norway and spending summers either home with his dad or more recently traveling with his mother. The trips had been really fun. His definite favorite being the one they’d taken to New Zealand. She’d been meeting up with some other dragonologist in the area and he’d been able to tag along. While they were there he was able to see and meet an Antipodean Opaleye, a nonaggressive iridescent dragon and while he’d seen many dragon before, he’d never seen one quiet as stunning. It almost made him want to follow his mother into studying them. But the scars covering her body had made him want to avoid that career choice ever since he was little. He liked his nice unburned, unbitten, unscarred skin. The study of dragons wasn't a career path for those who cared for their well being. As the talk switched to Australia he smiled. He'd been there for a few days on that same trip to New Zealand. The expansion of Opaleye territory brought his mother, and him, over.
"Wanna go throw some shrimp on the barbie?" He said teasingly, lying down next to him instead of over top.
Propping himself up in his elbow he watch Kai. Tobias smiling like the fool in love that he was, as he memorized his boyfriend's face. Really how had he gotten so lucky. Especially with a school full of people like this.
"Australia was nice, I'd love to go back but if I was to revisit somewhere I'd rather go back to see New Zealand again. Though top choice for me would definitely be Italy. The wizarding word over there has filled up with young people from all over and from what I hear the surfing's not bad either," he said, winking at Kai when he added the comment about surfing.
Personally he preferred Quidditch, though to be fair surfing did involved quick reflexes and showing off. So he wouldn't write it off just yet.
"We should go!" he said grinning, "To Australia that is. I mean, it's not like they actively watch for unlicensed apparation so as long as I do it right which I can, we could totally go and come back without anyone noticing. Though we should probably do it over a weekend."
He was already planning a trip in his head. Figuring out exactly where to take Kai and making a mental note to research the best surfing spots later. His eyes had lit up at the idea, grinning widely as he took one of Kai's hands in his.
"So what do you say?" He asked, "run away with me for a weekend?"

"Wanna go throw some shrimp on the barbie?"
Kai chuckled at Tobias' cheese, feeling a little embarrassed about admitting his interests. But, with Tobias, the teasing felt innocent. Warm. Like hanging around family, only, like, so much better, because he wasn't family. He was a completely different person, distant and lovely, and he gave Kai a warm feeling just by being around him. Plus, obvi, like, being able to bonk the person that poked fun at him relieved a lot of it. Kai was true to himself, retained his individuality effortlessly, but he often felt like he couldn't admit his interests. Ever since Tobias came along, he could talk about his dreams, his outlandish desires.
He found himself listening to music that reminded him of them, of the two of them, like one of those cheesy movies. Rom coms never made more sense to him. Kai felt so doofy, but he really, really liked it. Cigarettes After Sex had a jam titled "Dreaming of You", moaning about love at first sight, and that's what Kai felt when he saw Tobias.
Or, rather, when Tobias cornered him in a broom closet, but it was close enough.
"Yeah, like. There's other things, too, like. But, um, I really like the heat, dawg," He added onto his boyfriend's musings, albeit dumbly, but he was smiling nonetheless, eyes searching Tobias' expression lovingly.
But, Tobias offering to take him there... That was unexpected. He only left the UK a couple of times, he generally stuck around its tea-loving streets. But, while he loved the idea of treading around England with Tobias, he realized that he had walked those streets many times already. With his neighborhood friends. With Llewellyn. Somewhere new was what he wanted, and he wanted to experience it with Tobias.
"Yes!" He replied, nodding enthusiastically, "Yeah, dude, let's fuckin' do it. We can chill on the beach. Eat, like, shrimp n' seafood n' shit. Get tan... Or, well, like, tanner. Rot our brains out in the sun." The more he spoke, the more clear it was that he had no idea what he'd even do in Australia. But the important thing was that he would be gone. As wizards, there was no stopping them. The only bad thing that could happen was... Well, never mind, nothing bad could really happen, could it?
"I forgot my bathin' suit at home," Kai suddenly said, eyes growing wide, "Over winter break or whatever. Shit, dude. I guess I could just freeball some shorts, though." He nodded, holding his head up with his palm.
