It was around one o'clock in the afternoon when Cecelia decided to head to the great hall for lunch, her previous lesson having ended around fifteen minutes ago. She had been teaching the first year students about puffapods. They were delightful little organisms, little pods of pink that flourished into plumes when in contact with a solid object. The plants had little seeds that shimmered softly when catching the light, and an unbeknownst Cecelia had managed to tangle a few of these seeds in her long dark hair and in the sleeves of her robes. Under her arm she held two books on botany, for she wanted to go over a few paragraphs and reword them so that they could be recited to the class with ease. Gentle footsteps carried her through the aisles of tables upon entering the great hall, a natural smile upon her lips. The Great Hall was by no means as full as it usually was at dinner times, however there was a low buzz of chatter. "Hello, afternoon Marie....Frederick, careful that tie doesn't fall into your soup," Little parting words left her lips as she surveyed the tables she walked past, generally doing her duty as a professor to make sure all was in check. Cecelia never liked to be reprimanding to the students and sometimes - whenever she knew the headmaster wasn't looking - would let minor things slide, like untucked shirts or sweets exchanged under books.
Reaching the staff table, Cecelia gathered a small bundle of grapes. Her intentions were to gather a few snacks and head back to her greenhouse so she could get a head start on her next lesson. Filling her trusty flask with some tea, she picked up a granola bar and half a dozen strawberries before turning back to the large open doorways. As she went, she gave a few students a parting nod, nibbling away the berries she had plucked from the table. Fiddling with a loose strap on her bag that had come undone when she had put away her flask, Cecelia did not notice the books under her arm come loose and was startled when they collided into the ground. "Shit!" Cece cursed quietly under her breath before remembering her surroundings, her eyes widening a little and hoped nobody had heard her, "Ah, I mean, oops." A few pieces of parchment that had Cecelia's scribbled notes on for lesson prep also escaped the book. Reaching over to pick them up, Cece was surprised to see a helping hand extend to pick it up instead.

Mirai normally took an early diner in his room, but tonight he felt like going for a walk. Walking around the castle, he remembered all the years he’d spent here. It had only been three years ago that he’d graduated so it wasn’t like he’d been away long. But still it was weird being back in the school he’d spent four years of his life in.
He hadn’t expected to actually get hired here. Putting his name in had just been a formality, since he’d prefer to be a professor at Hogwarts than working as a divinations instructor. And he’d much rather teach than work for the ministry, even if the new minister was a centaur, he wasn’t sure they’d hire a seer. Actually he didn’t know anyone who would hired a seer. It reminded him again why he was so grateful, he’d been given the job.
Heading back to the first floor, he entered his room to find diner already set out for him. Wolfing down the mash potatoes and gravy, he was stopped by Lullaby who’d picked that moment to land on his head. Normally the bird would start singing, but at the behest of the ministry, he’d had to put a silencing charm on the Fwooper. Reaching up to his leg, the bird step on his hand instead. Moving him down to eye level, he smiled at the bird.
“So, you want attention,” he said. The bird tried to chirp in affirmation but the silencing charm stopped him. Mirai nodded, placing the bird on his shoulder he decided to head off to the Great Hall after all. There hadn’t been any chocolate chip cookies with his meal and he was craving cookies and chocolate. On his way there he came across the young herbology professor. Well, young as in young for the job, she was still a year his senior. He watched her as he headed to the dining hall, hesitating before entering. Just as he did so the professor lost hold of her books.
“Shit!” she swore, “Ah, I mean, oops.”
He laughed at that. He had to correcting himself as well, it was odd being a teacher. Walking the few step over to her, he picked up a piece of parchment that had fallen out of her books. Smiling, he handed it back to her.
“I’m Mirai Kei,” he said, “I’m the new divination’s professor.” Lullaby tried to chirp in greeting, jumping on his shoulder in frustration at being made mute. “And this little guy, who’s trying so hard to say “Hi”, is named Lullaby.”
