Once given free rein she sized up Lachlan. Not quite sure what drink to get him. He either drank something fruity or something serious and she wasn’t sure which. Fixing him a gin and tonic, she passed it to him with a lime slice on it. Then she started making up shots. When she’d turned seventeen, she’d learned how to make every drink in the book from her sister Maddi. So she wiped up shots of all colors and tastes, some which burned going down, others which tasted sweet. The sweet drinks were the tricky ones. They had nearly as much alcohol as the heavy ones. But it wasn’t noticeable until you were under the table. As another girl sat down, she passed shots around. Giving Lachlan a burning one and Bridgette three fruity ones she turned to the new girl who had her eyes closed.
“If you know what you want I can make it,” she said, passing over a bright pink drink and a bright yellow one, “otherwise drink up.”
When Edmund entered and sat down next to Lachlan she smiled at his green bracelet, wondering which one it was: taken or not interested. Hearing him order a drink from Bridgette, she laughed. Reaching deep into her bag, she pulled out a nicer bottle than was on any of these shelves and poured Edmund some.
“Bridgette will be under the table soon if I have anything to do with it,” she said smiling and passing him his scotch, “you might want to name the brand you want with other bartenders. Top shelf isn’t assumed in most places."

The voice that greeted him wasn't one Lachlan had expected to hear. Ed didn't do parties. Or, when he did do parties, it was usually to ruin Lachlan's fun. But from his behaviour so far, it didn't seem like that was his intent tonight. It seemed like he was trying to fit in.
"I don't need to look," he said quietly, as he snapped the bracelet round Edmund's wrist. "His boyfriend's making enough noise."
"You sure that's the right colour?" he asked for the benefit of those nearby. "Should've got blue to match your eyes."

Bridgette laughed at Liz's defense, but grinned at the compliment. "No use in playing if you're not in the moment, right?" Bridgette leaned back against the wall of liquor, looking out over the room. They were getting to have a small group, and a knot in her stomach she hadn't known was there released. Maybe this would end up being a good night after all.
"... I can run the bar for a bit..." Liz recommended. Bridgette nodded back at her, but stayed where she stood. The bar would be her safe space until she got a buzz on, though she wasn't about to admit that. "Surprise me," Lachlan said, and Bridgette grinned. Maybe he'll do a shot with me later? She wasn't about to be the only one doing shots at the beginning of the night though. That was just sad.
Bridgette hadn't realized that she'd been hoping for a pretty blonde to walk in the door until she did. Looking fantastic as usual. She stared, hoping to catch what bracelets she grabbed, but someone was standing in the way. When the blonde hair turned towards her, she shot her eyes somewhere else, taking a long sip of her drink. Her eyes caught Tobias in the corner with a joint. Hmm... I didn't realize he smoked.
"Playing the role of hostess again Flynn?" Ana said, and Bridgette felt the knot tighten in her stomach again. What the fuck? You just saw her the other day. What is wrong with you? Bridgette swallowed hard, forcing a smile. "Aren't we ambitious." She finished, a smirk playing at her features.
"Well," Bridgette walked over to her, leaning onto the bar with her arms, pushing her breasts forward and making sure the colors on her wrist were visible, "Gotta do something to help relax things, yeah?" She looked over the room, leaning her weight on one leg. She realized her ass was probably hanging out a little, and kind of hoped Liz would check her out. Feeling like a hot bitch would help get rid of these weird nerves. "Everyone's had a stick up their ass lately."
Bridgette wouldn't have noticed Edmund until he called her Red. A grin spread across her face and she reached under the bar for a glass. "What the hell are you doing here Edmund?" She asked, scanning the shelf for a good choice. He'd probably want it strong. "I wouldn't think that this was your kind of thing..." she trailed off, reaching for a top-shelf choice. She felt a cool breeze grace her upper thighs and secretly hoped that her blonde companion could finally get a glimpse of her body. Bridgette was a curvy girl, and very, very proud of it. And it better work to my advantage tonight, she turned back around, grinning at Ana. She frowned when Liz pulled out her own bottle. Fine, she'd give up on bartending. And at least if someone else poured the shot it would be less sad. She grabbed whatever was in front of her and cheered it before tossing it back. A little fruity and barely tasting boozy, though she couldn't tell if it was because there was more liquor or it was higher end stuff.
"I fully consent to passing out under this bar," she put the small glass down with a smirk.

Edmund thanked her for the drink and wanted to ignore her comment for the sake of kindness. If he were more of a dick to anyone but his brother, he would have said something about the places he goes being nicer than anything he could get here anyways. But he bit his tongue. Lachlan was right, Edmund was sort of keeping up appearances. It did no good for others to think he was a shut in. When Lachlan finally helped him with the stupid damn bracelet, he sighed with relief, taking a sip of the scotch. "Not bad," he admitted, tasting it again. The corner of his mouth lifted with Lachlan's complaint about the boys in the corner.
"Why would I need blue when I could just grab every color and call it a day?" He shot, nodding at his brother's arm. He liked to tease Lachlan for the way he presented himself, but at the end of the day, he couldn't admit in his own head that he was jealous for his brother's courage to present himself the way he wanted. Edmund secretly wished that he didn't worry so much about what others thought.
As if to throw a fuck you to himself, he grabbed one of Bridgette's fruity shots, tossing it back. She wouldn't care, and he needed to relax more if he wanted to have a good time.

[ x ] He had never thought one of the most difficult decisions in his life would have been choosing a glow in the dark fuckin' bracelet. Llewellyn had been standing at the table by the door for longer than he cared to admit, fighting a war of internal dialogue that seemed to be attempting to persuade him to leave the Room of Requirements right back the way he came. He'd already garnered a serious survey of the party goers. People he knew. People that were friends. People he didn't. Enemies. And.... ex friends. Since the night on The Quidditch Pitch, however, he'd had some time to regain composure. He'd spent the past couple of mornings giving himself regular pep talks in the bathroom mirror, convincing himself to shuffle his feet around the school corridors and fall back into a regular routine that didn't consist of crying into his pillow all day. Not that he cried often, but heartbreak was rough even on the steeliest of men, right??? He didn't really want to see Kai and Tobias there, but it wasn't like he had a choice. The two of them were nigh inseparable and an unfortunate corporeal thing in his life. He saw them every day. It never got easier, but Llewellyn was resilient like a weed. He adapted and grew and refused to fucking die, even if this was killing him. And he wasn't there to see them, or to mope about like the sad lovelorn boy he was. It was a singles party, and Llewellyn was very, very single. It was high time that he unstuck his head from the sand and realized this was the way things were going to be now. He could either fight it and lose or try to regain at least an ounce of his own self respect and confidence. Resisting the urge to close his eyes, he reached down for a yellow, followed by a red bracelet. The world didn't stop spinning and as far as he could tell no one gave a shit. Scratching his wrist he moved forward, but his momentum paused as he watched a pink haired boy b-line towards the bar. It just so happened to be where everyone else that he was familiar with had stood. Shaking his mop he continued to propel himself forward, resolving to just ignore Kai's existence for the night. Besides, it's not like Kai had made any effort to talk to him since the tower. It was a bitter thought. Those types of feelings had been cropping up more and more frequently in his head. It was strange how love could sour into hatred so readily. In truth, Llewellyn was still a little salty with Ana as well, so instead of approaching her, he opted for the other friendly face he saw... or... two faces he saw? The badger stopped behind the two boys, his head ping ponging between Lachlan and... was that Lachlan again? Double Lachlan's? Soft features were absolutely bewildered and his mouth hung open slightly. He'd never known Lachlan had a twin, though he supposed he didn't know much about him at all really. Or was it someone with a polyjuice potion? Did twins share the same thoughts? If he said hello to one of them, would they both respond? Saddling up to the bar to the left of Lachlan he offered an involuntary grin in greeting. "Dude, there's two of you. Dunno if you noticed... I see you got all your bases covered," he commented willingly in reference to the bracelets, and leaned forward to wave a greeting to the other Lachlan. "Hi. Llewellyn. I'm a friend of the other you."

"You could have, but you didn't," Lachlan observed, just as they were joined by Llewellyn.
Oh shit. What had he said about their parents the other night? He couldn't remember. Not because he'd been that drunk, just because he hadn't been paying much attention to what he was saying. But if it was bad and Llewellyn repeated it to Ed, that wouldn't be good for Lachlan.
Llewellyn seemed more interested in the party, though, and his comment on the bracelets had Lachlan's eyes automatically wandering to his wrist. Red and yellow. Lachlan couldn't remember what any of the colours meant anymore, apart from green and that whatever blue was it must have been something Edmund would consent to. It wasn't as though Lachlan had any plans in that direction.
"You managed to get through six years thinking we're the same person," he smiled. "What are you on?"

Kai leaned in to his boyfriend's kiss. Tobias relaxing helped the Hufflepuff relax, too. He didn't want this to be a shit show, despite how much a shit show it kinda already was. But... Being with someone he cared about, he knew he could relax. Get a martini for Tobias and an orange soda for himself, and they'd relax and talk and it'd be good. Or, well, he'd try to talk at least. He knew Tobias got kinda handsy, especially when drinking. That wasn't a bad thing, especially nowadays. Kai didn't feel like talking anymore. He didn't want to talk anymore. The more Tobias knew about him, the more he worried. But it wasn't healthy to worry that everyone you love is going to leave you. If they left, they left. There was nothing he could do to stop that. His mother's voice reminded him of this from time to time, in the back of his mind. He was starting to resent it. He approached the bar where Bridgette Flynn and Liz Reeves seemed to have taken over, along with a few friendly faces (a few identical faces) alongside them. He knew the girls from Quidditch, definitely the types to throw a wicked cool party. Kai was still excruciatingly shy around Lachlan, but he gave him a happy, little wave, unsure if he'd even notice. In truth, he wasn't sure if Edmund liked him much. Edmund seemed the type that didn't like anyone. The Strangways had strange ways, alright, and Kai fell at a loss on how to interact with them. He felt lucky that Lachlan even wanted to be his friend at time, they were kind of cool, mysterious people. If it had been a few months prior, Kai wouldn't even hesitate to approach the two of them. There was an inescapable feeling of foolishness. He wanted to speak to them. But... Before he had the chance, a mop head suddenly made his appearance at their side, and Kai was leaning against the bar now, pretending not to notice. He couldn't pretend to not notice Llewellyn's bracelets, however. Bright against his muted clothes, peach skin, dark lighting. He turned away then, bemused and forcing himself to stay out of it. Somehow this made a lot of sense to him, he couldn't place his finger on why, but... There was relief there. That Llewellyn wasn't dating who he thought he was dating. But even that was encompassed by an insane amount of jealousy, speaking to other boys, looking for "something serious". All this happened as a crashing wave over the Hufflepuff, and all he did was smile helplessly at the bar. "Could I get... Um... Some, like, kind of martini? And, uh, could I get a, like, entire bottle of whiskey?" Kai laughed, silly and flushed in the face, as if he was already on something. That something was unbridled, confusing anger, "I don't really care what, just, like, fuck me up, fam."

Edmund took the hand of the strange brown haired boy with a frown. How could he have not known that they were triplets? Okay, so their sister obviously wasn't identical, but still. "Edmund," he introduced himself with his signature winning smile. Edmund was the kind of guy that first-years had crushes on. He noted that Llewellyn was kind of attractive if not for the complete jean outfit. "You know," he mumbled absently, "You'd look good in a bowtie," he told the Hufflepuff, taking another sip of his drink. The other guy that came up to the bar was either pregaming hard, or really nervous. The second seemed to ring true when he said he wanted to get fucked up. Edmund considered sliding his glass down the bar to the poor kid, but he had to admit to himself, the scotch was too good. He didn't want to share.

Liz just watched as the boys moved around her. Really the amount of drama they were creating… It was just like them. She didn’t spend much time with boys her age unless it involved quidditch and with good reason, they tended to cause drama. As the kid she was pretty sure Lachlan was watching and Llewellyn was ignoring approached, she recognized him from the pitch as Kai. Weren’t he and Llewllyn joined at the hip or something? Whatever, maybe someone else could keep track of the drama in this school but she certainly couldn’t. Handing Kai a bottle of heavy strength fire whiskey from under the counter, she made up the martini.
“You okay?” she asked Kai.
He seemed off. Though she didn’t know him well, it was obvious to anyone how uncomfortable he looked.
“Tobias isn’t giving you a hard time is he?” she asked with a look towards her seeker who was now smoking in the back corner.
Really, he couldn’t handle not being the center of attention. Even at practice it was all about him, or at least he’d tried to make it that way, and gotten pouty when she’d stopped him.
“He can be a handful,” she said passing Kai a martini with three skewered olives.

Lachlan saw Kai walk up to the bar, offered a wave in return but then he was going to act like it wasn't a big deal, because it wasn't a big deal. Lachlan knew his feelings were his problem and even if he did have a thing for Kai, it wasn't like he could act like the spurned lover. For one thing, Kai hadn't spurned him, and for another, Llewellyn had a better claim on that role.
But it was weird how someone's voice could cut through everything, not because it was loud or because you were listening (Lachlan wasn't listening for him), just because it was what you wanted to hear.
And if Toby had his way, this might be his only chance to have a word without the nasty little fuck. He excused himself from Llewellyn and his brother.
"Hey, at risk of sounding like an uptight older brother, you two are being safe, right?"

Before he could stop himself, Kai replied with a, "Not really..." to Liz's question. He laughed at himself, again, and shrugged a large shrug. He kinda definitely did not want to talk about it, but he had yet to master the art of pretending things were fine. No one was falling for it, not even people who didn't know him well. That was his biggest downfall, wasn't it? He simply could not control his ridiculous feelings. But he was smiling wide, completely off from his feelings. He didn't know what he was doing. Normally, when he was upset, he just started crying and hiding. He sometimes smiled awkwardly when he was critiqued, but like... that was something he was working on. He wasn't understanding himself at all anymore. "Just, like. Down in the dumps, y'feel. It'll be aight," Kai added, nodding and grinning innocently, to cover up his blabber mouth. He untwisted the bottle unceremoniously, drinking it down like it was nothing but a glass of water. It stung more than it used to, but Kai was accustomed to parties. Accustomed to drinking. He was a veteran at this point. Snorting at Liz's comment, he shook his head. "Nah, he's cool," He replied, placing the cap back on top but he didn't bother to screw it back on, "He comes off as high may-ton-nance, but he's like... chill, y'know." He actually had no idea what he was talking about. He didn't know what constituted as "high maintenance", he had no reference level. But, he felt like Tobias was the best out there, and that he was blessed for receiving such an affectionate boyfriend, so... When Lachlan approached, Kai's grin turn a little more nervous, a little more shy. Of course he was glad that his friend wanted to talk to him, but things had gotten kind of gray. Worse yet, a part of him still feared that Llewellyn and him were, like, best bros now, but apparently that wasn't true since he just kinda brushed him off, didn't he? Was it petty or mean for Kai to be glad? Give him a few more drinks, and Kai would be singing how grateful he is for Lachan's existence. A louder snort from Lachlan's comment. For a second, the Hufflepuff didn't even know what to say. "Ummmm, yeah, definitely. Y'don't have to worry about me," And he definitely didn't need to fear Kai thinking of him as a brother, at least not anymore. Their brush on the Quidditch pitch had made both their intentions pretty clear, Kai could hope. "Keep, uh, safety in my pocket, like, in case I'm under some bleachers, or whatever," He joked, sheepish smile spreading across his face. His fingers touched the base of the martini, but... He wasn't really tempted to leave just yet.

"I was more worried about me," Lachlan smiled. "Didn't want to have to give you the sex talk."
Really, he wanted nothing more than to tell Kai the way Toby had been talking about him the other night. Like he was a trophy. But that would just make him sound bitter, wouldn't it? Not to mention how it would make Llewellyn look.
"Maybe avoid the bleachers, though," he suggested. "I've heard it's not a very discreet location."

When he noticed Lachlan or one of them, apparently he had a twin, Joy, heading over to Kai he put out the blunt and got up. Walking over to his boyfriend he slipped his arm around his waist, kissing him gently on the cheek. Taking his martini from the bar, he sipped it as he first glared at Lachlan and then tried to look innocent. He was supposed to be good. Remember, no fights.
“I didn’t know you were friends with Strangways,” he said to Kai as he forced a smile at Lachlan for Kai’s benefit only, “I got lonely on my own so I thought I’d come over to check on you.”
He gave Kai another kiss, this one on his nose, moving between Kai and Lachlan as he did that.
“You okay?” he said, looking at his boyfriend with concern, “We can always go if you want to? Just say the word and I’ll carry you off to the Gryffindor tower.”
He smiled at Kai, now in front of him, fully between Kai and Lachlan. He didn’t like having his bad to a kid he expected to hex him but he knew Liz was behind the bar. She might scream bloody murder at him, but she wouldn’t let anything happen to her prize seeker. He was just that good.

"Benzos mostly," came Llewellyn's all too honest retort paired with a bit of a diffident expression. He was on a lot of things... not like, at that very moment, but in general he of course he had his regular benders, even if they were in his name. Really, he tended towards anything that would make him feel good regardless of consequences or personal responsibility. Like a high speed car chase or a man walking a tight rope, he stupidly pushed his bodily limits for the sake of.... what? To forget. To feel better. To be better. Maybe, for awhile at least, he could pretend he was someone else until he came down and smacked the hard pavement of reality, banged up and bandaged his knees and elbows and kept trekking along. It wasn't a happy existence, but at least it was something, and for Llewellyn that was enough. As Lachlan slipped away his emerald eyes followed the back of his neck towards Kai before quickly shooting back towards Lachlan number two, who he now learned was not in fact an evil clone like a bad b-list movie subplot, but rather an entirely different person altogether.
He wasn't observant and had spent the better half of his school career a bit preoccupied. Of course he didn't realize. As his eyes wandered back towards Edmund they snagged on his smile and gripped on for dear life.
True, he looked kind of like Lachlan, so it was a bit weird, but there were differences in the nuances of their body language to which Llewellyn responded apprehensively. Edmund was like, really good looking, not just physically but in terms of his confident put togetherness, and it filled the Hufflepuff boy with a deluge of self doubt. Was he annoying him? Did he want him to leave? Did his hair look okay? It never looked okay. He reached up and smoothed his mane. Suddenly he found himself wishing Lachlan hadn't abandoned him at the bar. Not like this.
"You look good in a bow tie."
Fuck. "Sorry. I mean because you're wearing one. I'm not uhm..." Quickly he shut his mouth before it ran away. If he learned anything about dealing with these Strangways boys from Lachlan, he knew he had to think before he spoke, lest they take it the wrong way. His face flushed.
"Bow ties are cool on other people. They're not very punk though. Head banging in a bow tie can't be comfortable."
Llewellyn Ludlow 2050 saying stupid shit like it was going out of style. Suddenly wishing he was six feet under, he pushed off the bar, getting ready to leave this poor guy alone before he brought the conversation to an entirely new level of awkward.

You're afraid, like I make my deals with the devil

Post by Ana Gray on Jun 30, 2016 0:55:58 GMT -5
Out of all the blessings Ana could have that evening, Zayn not following her further than the doorway was one of them. There were plenty of times where his company was more than welcome, where he could pass his drunk ass out with his head on her lap and she'd just read a book for the rest of the evening. But, this kind of thing required a specific loneliness. Someone could come hit on her, and she would get mad and make a scene, and then she would leave, alone, and stay awake petting Wolf until he decided to dig his claws in and scamper off. Okay, maybe her fantasies were getting the best of her. She wanted very much for this night to go well for her. It was painful, being friendless and boyfriendless, or whatever it was that she wanted. With delicate fingers, she pressed a downer onto her studded tongue and swallowed it dry. In about twenty minutes, she would calm down and be pleasant to be around, or whatever the hell. Bridgette replied rationally to Ana's stupid dig, and the Slytherin couldn't help but feel a tad disappointed. Insulting other people, and not Ana, wasn't nearly as fun. But she appreciated the joke, nonetheless, laughing haughtily like a cartoon villain vixen, before turning her attention to the rest of the... club... thing. "Room" wasn't really the way to describe it. But... While her gaze attempted to stray, it was brought back by the figure of Llewellyn Ludlow passing before her. If he was giving her some kind of cold shoulder, she did not notice, but she knew he and Lachlan were friendly and paid it no mind. The fact that he had the same color bracelets as her, however... Ana was starting to regret her choice. The fact that her blood pact gay friend could confidently walk in with "I love DICKS" glowing from his wrist made her feel painfully inadequate. She was glad he was being honest with himself... But could she ever do the same? Past Llewellyn, Bridgette pulled a bottle from the shelf, long legs stretching effortlessly beneath her stockings. Ana's head tilted on its own, as if to sneak a peek. It snapped back up before the Ravenclaw turned around, giving Ana a smile, and Ana smiled back. God, she was pathetic. But. She got it now. Or something. Maybe Llewellyn gave her a boost of confidence that she didn't know she had. She rose from her spot on the couch and made her way to the bar, ignoring the boy drama unfolding, as that was just... None of her business. And her friend didn't seem to care, either. Or maybe Ana just wanted him not to. She gave Llewellyn a coy look over her shoulder, "Evening, Ludlow. Strangways." She added that last part with distaste. She definitely liked Lachlan better than his boring ass brother, but whatever. She slipped onto a bar stool across from Bridgette, forcing a grin that her eyes didn't follow (her eyes were as judgmental as always, of course), and placed her bag on the counter before her. "I still don't drink," Ana began, clapping her hands together softly and placing them under her chin, "But, I would love a cola. Virgin." Just like me. Her eyes screamed out in embarrassment from the thought, but her ruby lips pulled back into a smile. And... noticing Bridgette's bracelets... Ana placed her left hand slowly over her wrist, falling to the counter beneath her chest, to hide her gleaming red one. As if there was anything there, anyway. As if her wants would ever change. She wanted to kill herself for even thinking about it.
