Outside Hogwarts the night was still as freshly fallen snow padded the cold hard earth and with it fell a silence that rang out from the castle all the way to the Forest. The night had come early, as it did this time of year, and as the stars peeked out from behind their sleepy-eyed cloud cover a cobalt glow could be seen upon The Black Lake from the topmost towers of the school. Nearing the glowy ethereal light the landscape remained silent, but through the thick sheet of ice that covered the ground the distant vibrations of music could be felt. Instead of slipping and falling on the ice it acted as a floor, like marble or tile, surely enchanted by whomever was responsible for the distant glimmery framework, which, as one grows closer, will see that rather than a building stands erected a massive architecture of ice surrounded by lanterns. Through its obfuscated walls lights can be seen strobing to the tempo of suppressed music. - - - - - Inside the place shook with music and Dani had been making the finishing touches to her spread- mostly liquid, sans a few hors d'oeuvres and a rather impressive chocolate cake, all of which she had been busy the past couple evenings in preparation for this night. Meanwhile her brother Kaimana Ohme had delivered on the spirits of which he certainly did not disappoint with a ranging variety of liquors and champagne. So much so, that Daniyah had been concerned just how he, an underaged wizard, had managed to obtain such an extraordinary quantity, but she did not ask questions. The table spread across the length of the back wall, just a few feet away from the dance floor which consisted of several blocks of ice in varying shades of blue blinking lights. On each end of the oblique shaped room the igloo (if one could call it that) branched off into several cozier rooms furnished with chic sofas, tables, and modern light fixtures. But as people filtered in from the outside chattering excitedly in their heels and button ups, Daniyah was quickly reminded of her objective of the evening, and refused adamantly to stray away from her and Marian's correspondence. Before her guests had the opportunity to make their way to the back wall of drinks, Dani procured a small vial that had been concealed beneath her bra. Holding the vial up she unstopped the cork before emptying the contents of the truth serum into a large bowl of blue punch. Slipping the vial back into her dress she topped off the beverage with a generous splash of tequila before turning to face her guests.

James walked in with Helios on his shoulder as they looked to their left then their right simultaneously. James gave a smirk and looked to Helios "Go for a fly" He said as the bird took of in a blur letting out a screech as it left the igloo. "Alway could make an entrance" He said as he adjusted the collar on his black button up shirt that hung untucked over his jeans. He walked straight over to the spirits smiling as he grabbed a bottle of whiskey and a red cup as he poured it in adding a splash of rum. "Very nice" He says to himself as he takes a sip.
He looked around seeing Daniyah over near the punch bowl spiking it with tequila "How pleasant" He says smirking as he walks towards one of the rooms with a couch in it smirking as he sipped on his drink and sat on the couch. Parties weren't his forte, rather had never been much of a partier, too many people, He smiled as he sat back and took another drink "ahh". He smiled and continued to relax not making an effort to mingle. If anyone wanted to talk to him they could accio him over to them (if it was even possible), or sit down and talk.

we are to be going on an adventure now, yes?

Post by Caoimhe Uisce on Apr 28, 2016 17:30:39 GMT -5
With the chaos of Christmas slowly dwindling behind her, Caoimhe was busy getting ready for her next big adventure--Daniyah’s mysterious party on the Black Lake. Steeped in excitement, the merrow stood half-naked in her dorm room surrounded by piles of clothes and shoes, debating between three sets of outfits for the evening. With nearly twenty minutes to spare, she decided on bright and fun over classy and chic, selecting a flamingo-pink tea dress with a full tulle skirt, sleek satin bodice, and silver sequins stitched over its single shoulder in the shape of either leaves or feathers, Caoimhe couldn’t tell which. For shoes, she opted for her “glass slippers”, a pair of crystal-clear heels with scalloped edges that sparkled in the light and looked like something Cinderella herself might have worn.
“You are going to be late at this rate,” Finn complained as his charge threaded his tiny glass fishbowl earring through her left earlobe. “And you have yet to style your hair.”
“So she’ll be fashionable late, so what man,” Lapp yawned before Caoimhe repeated the process with his own earring, only instead of the left ear, he was safely hooked into the lobe of her right.
“Tardiness is the sign of a chaotic mind.”
“And smartassery is the sign of a--”
“We are to be going when I thinks we are to be going,” Caoimhe interrupted before Lapp could say something rude. Really, did they have to fight now, right before a party? “We are not being in any rush. I am nearly finishing and then we can be leaving.”
True to her word, the merrow only had to pluck a seashell hair stick from her dresser, twirl it through her shimmering mane of thin silver hair until the strands wove themselves into a slack up-do, and she was finished. The final touch? A delicate silver chain dotted with tiny snowflakes that she draped around her hair like a winter crown.
“And now,” she announced, twirling once more in front of the mirror. “We are being ready!”
The journey from Gryffindor Tower to the grounds went by in a blur of colour and the restless buzzing of a dozen half-heard conversations. The entranceway was cluttered with students milling about, either waiting for dates or friends from other houses or merely sneaking a few mouthfuls of illegally procured alcohol before making their way to the Lake. Caoimhe was far too excited at the thought of attending a party ON TOP of her real home to stay away any longer; the merrow hurried through the doors, across the grounds, and stopped at the shore where she was too stunned to continue.
There, on top of the Black Lake, was a giant igloo. The sight was too grand, too magical to ask questions, and so instead of wasting her time wondering about the whimsical scene before her, Caoimhe darted inside instead where she spotted Dani busying herself with a spread of food.
“Daniyah!” the merrow cried, all but launching herself into her friend’s arms. “This place! It is wonderful. How are you doing it?”

"Don' ye look at me like tha' Jury," Judge whispered to his best friend and owl as he combed his hair back. The owl gave a slight twist of it's head as an answer and Judge chuckled, "I know it's me firs' party goin' solo but my rep is kinda of on tha' low...blimey rumors and such."
All last week the rumor that Judge had found a girlfriend circled the entire school, some girls were jealous of the pretend girlfriend and others were down right pissed! Two girls had even took it as far as to actually assault him, little did they know he liked it! However, the rumor was a down right lie.
Looking just right Judge tossed Jury a dead mouse, rubbed his head, and set out for the party. From the invitation it sounded actually fun but a Hogwarts party was in fact by definition very boring affairs. As he exited through the front castle doors Judge pulled his white fur coat together, tucked his head against the growing wind, and trucked hastily toward the giant tent.
Stepping inside he shivered as his cold face was engulfed by the strong warmth. Looking around he cursed under his breath, "Fuck always early."
Removing his coat he walked further in without even a nod to the other guests, it was his thing to stand out as the biggest prick, and he was certainly good at it! The drink table was absurd with all the mixed drink and thir unnatural colors but he randomly picked up a bright purple drink that gave off a green smoke, he took a whiff and it was surprisingly good smelling. With a sip however he spit it out, "Jesus who mixed this?!" Judge barkef sitting the cup down, "Does ye know wha' mixing is? To much fire whiskey!"
Judge took another cup and another sip which raised his eyebrows, "Now 'his is a drink!"
With his cuo Judge walked away from the drink table past some girls and gave them a wink, as he walked on past the girls began to whisper to themselves about how cute he was!

Kensi never dressed up much but she could not come here and not dress up. She had to admit that it was beautiful but it was all frozen water to her but tonight she would not freak out. Nope she was going to enjoy herself and enjoy anything else that might happen. Making her way in, she kept her head down. She did not expect to be noticed and at least for the moment she was not thirsty. However she thought that she would be soon enough. For now though she needed to get as comfortable as possible and try to make it through what she was sure would be a memorable experience.

Appearances can often change. Cadence considered himself a prime example of this from around the age of ten and now that he was sixteen it was no different. He had to make sure his appearance was neat and perfect enough for him. Since he had invited himself to this, he had no choice but to show up. The truth of the matter was he would much rather lay back and finish teaching Milly a few more things since he actually planned to return her back to her owner within the next couple of days. He watched as Milly passed the mirror where he stood. "Thumbs up or thumbs down Milly?" he said as he turned and looked at her. "Also be as honest as your owner. Never sugar coat anything." Milly took a minute and folded her arms over. Cadence took a minute to bend down so that they were eye to eye. "Up or down, I'm not changing so what's your final judgement?" He watched as Milly put her hand out and turned her thumb down. He laughed. "Yeah, suits are not really my thing. Do not stay up too late, I'll be back as soon as I can escape without being noticed." Milly held her hand up, stopping him for a second. Cadence looked down at her. "What?" She pointed to his hand and then looked up at him. He sighed as he looked down at his right hand. "It usually disappears within 6 hours. If it's not gone by the time I am back, then I will worry, but for now, you do not worry and I will not either. Fun only, promise me." Milly shrugged and Cadence hoped she could find something fun to do until she got sleepy enough to head to bed. As he walked, making his way towards where he seen a hustle of people going, Cadence realized he still had yet to actually sleep. He had meant to capture a few winks but between teaching Milly, attempting to learn to socialize, also via Milly, and having to come here, he was actually learning to function without sleep. However he was sure that it would catch up to him eventually. Possibly tonight depending on what happened at this party. It was, amazing really from the way it looked to the way the atmosphere just seemed comforting. He stopped and looked around. He was a little early but that was fine with him. The way he looked at it, the earlier he arrived, the better he could survey the room and pick out just where he thought he could get both the best view and hearing distance. Cadence wanted to know what was happening around him, but he did not necessarily want to be the reason anything happened.

[ outfit. ] It was so like Daniyah to be so ambitious. When she told Kai about her party, of course he had to help her out. It wasn't like she truly couldn't do things on her own, but her big bro had a few tricks up his sleeves reserved for nefarious reasons. And luckily, neither of the two seemed to want to question how the other knew so much about questionable business. Watching her pull together something so fun, enjoyable for their friends, and kicking professors in the butt, was something that swelled pride within him. He provided her with the drinks, and let her go about her business as she wanted to. After all, the girl worked so brilliantly on her own. Kai didn't wanna weigh down her prowess. Or something. He was also just being kind of lazy. He entered a bit later than most, surveying the crowd in a haze. It wasn't a party unless he pregamed, after all. He wondered if there'd be a place for him to tuck away for some dreamy tangerine without his sister catching a whiff. But, he didn't need to, he just would immensely prefer to, even if it meant getting caught. For now, he made his way to the drink table where his sister stood with the librarian. "Wow, girl. You look like a figure skater, wow. So cool," Kai nodded his head with the beat of the music, pointing his fingers toward Caoimhe's dress, "Or like, a prom queen. Figure skating is like, so fuckin' rad, though." He laughed sincerely, before turning to his sister with a bobbing head, "Good job, Dani, this place is bananas," and with that, he gave her a squeeze to the shoulder. However, his eyes met with the lovely punch bowl beside her, and he pursued his true love curtly, as if he hadn't joined the two girls at all. He poured himself a cup of blue, and took a swig almost instantly. "Ooh, damn. That's my jam," Kai filled it once more to the brim, as oddly colored fruity drinks were basically his weakness, especially those in the tone of blue or green. Another laugh escaped him, an odd one this time, unsure. But he lifted his drink in a toast to the girls, and found his way toward the center of the room. There, he swayed to the music and drank peacefully on his own, enjoying his time even all by himself.

With the advent of a new Headmaster, Hogwarts had been going through several changes or growing pains. Some things were obvious. New rules that encouraged violence and self-governance of the student body, unrestricting areas that had once been barred from student use... and then there was... Well. Llewellyn couldn't quite say how he felt about the new choice of portraiture or decor, but the majority of changes had been widely accepted by both himself and his peers. It was a welcome revitalizing movement that swept the halls and excited kids to learn once again, to take on the liability of their own education. Well, most of them thought this way at least. Llewellyn on the other hand had been staring at this portrait in The Great Hall for the past twenty minutes with his head tilted to one side, and then the other, as he debated what to make of the majestic... beast? That blinked and swayed and perked its earthumbnoear. But what did it all mean? Was a hand that looked like a zebra really just a zebra after all? It did after all live its life as one, and at the end of the day wasn't that what defined anyone? Zebra or hand, one could only define themselves by their experiences. If Llewellyn had spent his days in a garden doing nothing but growing and staring up at the sun, he surely wouldn't still be human, would he? Because human lives were defined by their participation in civilization. BUT, zebras didn't technically have a civilization, so did that make the whole concept of personal realities all null and void? A group of girls teetered past him in their heels. Llewellyn finally craned his neck downwards and looked at the pink wax paper that still held half of a fairy cake. Shoving the rest of the cake in his pocket he noted they were dressed rather charming and Llewellyn looked down at his own button down with a self conscious frown. Oh! That was right! He had somewhere to be, didn't he? Leisurely he followed behind the group of girls out of the castle and onto the crisp grounds. He watched his feet as they left their hoof print in the ground. When he did finally manage to wander into the party, he was pretty dang late. The inside was overwhelming, to say the least, and Llewellyn felt his insides rattle with each thudding beat. Everything was so blue. He lingered along the periphery of the dance floor until he finally spotted Kai. Approaching the guy he dug around in his pockets for the rest of the cake, holding it out to him. "I'm buggin alright, want the rest of this? Did you see that picture of the zebra?" he asked loudly, though his voice was still partially drown out by the music. "Your sister did a bang up job by the way, I feel like I'm on a space ship."

no... no.. I can't do thisOlive thought to herself as she stared at her reflection, looking back at her was the most ridiculously hot pink dress, with exaggerated shoulders and lace and awkwardly short. She'd never been one for 'style' or any of that girlish nonsense but even she knew this dress was absolutely taste-less. What was her mum thinking? But there was hardly any time left to change, not that she could, she had no other 'dresses' except for her school outfit. And Colin would be there... Too embarrassing.. cant go.... But what about Colin?? She'd have so many chances to 'bump' into him. Maybe even a chance to dance? Yeah.. You gotta do it Olive, be a man.. I mean wo-man.. BE A WOMAN DO IT, and with that in mind, she strolled out with her coat, not even bothering to change into heels, her trust old chuck taylors would do, and headed for the party. She hadn't expected it to be so.. soo... breathtaking. The ice was transformed to keep from slipping, and the building, and the drinks. Olive slipped her coat off and hung it on the rack, she took a momentary scan of the current crowd, a once over for Colin, but she didn't see him. Instead she saw someone she hardly expected to see at such a gathering 'judge'. ugh, Olive gagged slightly as she passed Judge just as the girls around him began to swoon. Reed, Thompson and some unknown girl, the typical no brain floozies who flocked Judge for reasons that escaped her. Some sort of daddy issues she mused, what else was there to see in Judge? Olive tried as she could to keep from losing her lunch and made a beeline for Dani at the drink table "Hey dani" she smiled brightly and began pouring herself a cup of blue. She leaned closer and whispered under her breath "any sight of the lion" she mentioned ever so non nonchalantly.

Post by Davina Jade on Apr 30, 2016 22:41:56 GMT -5
The invitation had been surprising though, in the end, Davina decided that she felt grateful. She and Dani weren't exactly bestest friends, but at least she was regarded enough to be invited to a party that was probably against several hands worth of rules. If Dale ever found out, he would birth a Hippogryff and for that alone Davina was more than glad to attend. She wasn't sure who else was invited, but she was sure not everyone was going to be unfortunate company. The Slytherin decided to dress comfortably, and dolled it up with her favorite boots and a bit of jewelry. She didn't dress up often, and this is as fancy as it got. Satisfied that she was presentable, she draped her only non-Hogwarts cloak over herself before making her way to the Black Lake. Even though her interactions with her classmates were usually abrasive, admittedly because of her, she was kind of excited of going to a party. As the only witch in her family, everything she did at Hogwarts was an experience of her own. She could try her best to tell her parents about it, but they would never be able to understand. There's a freaking igloo in the middle of the school lake... how do you explain that to a muggle? As it caught Davina's eye from a distance, she was reminded again why she loved magic so much. It made so much sense that she was magical and not her brothers. She loved them to death but they were lazy and spoiled and could never appreciate any of this like she did. The cold winter air was starting to sneak in through the bottom of her cloak, and it made Davina walk faster towards the Lake. It wasn't much longer until she stepped into the large venue and shrugged her cloak off, glancing around with an impressed smirk on her face. Well, well... so Dani knew how to party. Davina knew her brother definitely could but she had never seen Daniyah herself in action. This was an interesting development, though not a bad one at all. While she took a turn about the room, not really ready to socialize yet, Davinah saw a her classmates come in little by little. The girls were all dolled up, some more brightly than others, and some of the guys even tried dressing up as well. James had decided to bring his glorified chicken again, but at least he had enough sense to dismiss him. At the sight of Victor, Davina immediately walked in the opposite direction and was close enough to hear Olive in a BRIGHT pink number, greeting Dani. Davina wasn't sure if she just jumped in as well. Was she supposed to say hi to everyone? She certainly hoped she didn't. "Uh, hey. Thanks for the invitation," she offered, trying her best to actually sound gratefully. The sensation actually existed within her; her vocal chords didn't always convey things like that.

The icy surroundings were breathtaking and Harriet looked eagerly around, taking in every detail as she entered. She had felt beautiful in her outfit of gold back in the dormitory, but now that she had arrived at the party, it felt juvenile, like a little girl's party dress. The other girls were dressed in a much more sophisticated way, some of them even ... sexy. Actually, now that she was looking at the other people rather than the decor, she noticed that she was a little girl compared to everyone else. She was by far the youngest person in sight. Instantly, Harriet felt horribly self-conscious. Was this a party for upper year students? Had she received her invitation by mistake? Was everyone going to think she was terribly presumptuous? Or worse, ignore her all evening? She stepped quickly over to the refreshment table and took a glass of punch to calm her nerves and to give her suddenly fluttering hands something to hold. She took a sip and nearly spit the liquid back into the glass in surprise, but managed to swallow it with a choking cough or two. "This tastes like alcohol!" she exclaimed. Of course Harriet knew what alcohol tasted like, she drank the blood red wine at all the rituals with the rest of her family, but apart from that, she was pretty certain you had to be of age, seventeen, to drink. Harriet was only thirteen.

Post by Daniyah Ohme on May 1, 2016 16:50:57 GMT -5
If one wanted to observe an Ohme in their natural habitat, this was the place to do it. Both of the siblings had their own flavor of carousing, but when it came down to their individual components Daniyah and Kai were much the same. However, it was in etiquette where they differed. While both liked to have a good time, Daniyah's external focus drove her to maintain her hostess status. It was the enjoyment of others that drove her to gush so much of herself into these little affairs, and in return she was rallied, true to her extroverted nature. So, as her friends surrounded her, Daniyah couldn't help but to grin broadly as they individually acknowledged her invitation. This is what it was all about, right? Even for those she saw the face of uncertainty on, she took special note. It was her job to make sure those people had a good time. The first to greet her was Caoimhe Uisce , to which Daniyah countered her enthusiasm with an ecstatic hug, flinging her long thin arms around the milk white girl. When she heard her brother Kaimana Ohme comment on her outfit and couldn't help but to agree. She was vaguely reminded of watching the winter olympics on their old muggle television set as a child, jumping on her Mothers beds and doing extravagant lutz leaps until she cracked her head on the bed frame. She watched as her idle brother trailed off, but didn't worry much. Kai was honest all the time anyway! Right...? Right? After all, the only ones who might suffer the consequences of the blue punch this evening were those that weren't already honest. If you had nothing to hide then all would be pleasant. Needless to say, she was beginning to think her plan might have had some unsolicited consequences, but she felt very little compassion towards liars. As she pulled away from Caoimhe she gently kissed her cheek before leaning toward her ear. "Magic! Duh!" As if there was any other way to accomplish such exorbitant feats. "And maybe a little help from my brother," she added thoughtfully, giving credit where credit was due. ...And then there was Olive Greene . It took every ounce of self control for Daniyah to not have a visceral reaction towards Olives er.... outfit. Instead, she smiled, and shook her head gently at the girl. "The only lion I've seen is standing here. You know Caoimhe I take it? She's just wonderful, I'm still trying to convince her to tell me who does her hair. I don't think I've seen anything so shiny and healthy in my life," she complimented clandestinely. Finally, Daniyah had caught sight of Davina Jade , the woman of the hour making her way towards the small group of beautiful girls that had accumulated around her. But where was Marian Spencer ? Taking a quick glance around her party she noted that the igloo had filled up rather quickly as students from all years and houses chatted amongst one another and some even began to take to the dance floor. A few faces stood out to her as well. Notably, she eyed Cadence Strife who had been behaving unusual last time she had seen him. Still, she was glad he had been able to make it. Turning her gaze back to Davina as she spoke. "I'm glad you could make it," she responded honestly, pausing cautiously. "Especially after that whole debacle with Dale. I was rather worried you would think poorly of me after that. I just wanted to be friendly."Daniyah was being sincere. If she had ulterior motives, that was a separate situation altogether. Turning to grab Davina a drink she noticed the younger girl and couldn't help but to giggle. Taking a minute to fill up a cup with punch, she turned and shoved it into Davina's hand. "Anyway, dance and have fun tonight. I made it a point to not invite Dale. He may or may not be on my shit list. This isn't his usual gig anyway," she said before turning back to the young girl and gently touching her shoulder. "That's because it is. I have some pumpkin juice if you'd prefer that? Personally, I'm not a fan either, especially when I have to entertain... By the way, I love your dress." unmentioned tags; @harriet ooc: SORRY IF I FORGOT ANYONE being hostess is hard -wipes sweat off brow-

"Oh, that's alright, thank you." Harriet replied to Daniyah. Not because she thought it was okay to drink the alcohol, but because she had been brought up to be excruciatingly polite and didn't want to inconvenience her hostess with fetching her some pumpkin juice. She raised her glass to her lips several times absentmindedly, each time remembering it was contaminated with alcohol, and always lowering it again, simply continuing to awkwardly hold it.
"Thank you, thank you very much." Harriet smiled and smoothed her skirt when the girl who was clearly the hostess of the party, and thankfully didn't even seem to think Harriet was an intruder there, complimented her dress. Perhaps the understated, pale gold hadn't been a mistake after all. She tossed her head a little, flipping her dark hair over one shoulder, and making her earrings sway. That one tiny comment had restored her confidence.
Now she just needed to figure out what to do with her glassful of forbidden liquid. She casually looked around for a plant to pour it into. There weren't any.

When he returned Milly, he knew he would have to have a one on one with Dani. He had wanted to speak to her but she was so crowded. Hopefully she did not take it to heart too much, not that he expected her too. Who was that little girl that she was speaking to, yeah the one in the ugly gold dress. Seeing her still standing by Dani, Cadence decided to make his way over. He slightly waved and looked at the young girl. What was she looking for. He turned to her. He resisted the urge to say how ugly her dress was. Like, he got it, she was a little kid who still let people decide what she wore. He had too at that age. "Hi Dani." That was nice of him he thought. This little girl though, she seemed more awkward than he had been in the kitchen a couple of days ago. Also girls who flipped their hair, they were dangerous. "Hi, I'm Cadence," he said to the girl. He reached out and took the glass from her. "Care if I have a taste of this?" [@harriet ]

Having downed the rest of his drink, Kai passively waved the empty cup around. There was a weird issue that he always had where dancing seemed like such a weird thing for dudes to do, especially by themselves, because they always awkwardly fumbled about. Girls were artists, absolute masters at dancing with anyone or no one, and Kai was admittedly a bit envious. However, he reached a middle ground: Who cared if he danced like he got an ass that won't quick? Probably a lot of people, but no one Kai cared about. To misquote a disgusting classist, those who care don't matter, and those who matter don't care. So there Kai gyrated on his own, letting the booze fill his soul with the rock and roll, or whatever. From the crowd, Llewellyn approached him; his mane absolutely recognizable through the swaying bodies, a distinguishing attribute both boys coincidentally shared. Kai's clouded eyes perked up from the sight of his friend, and he raised his arms in a bromantic "Ayyyy!" With his silly crooked smile in place. "I'm buggin alright, want the rest of this? Did you see that picture of the zebra?""Hell yes, my dude!" Kai immediately chimed, taking the fairy cake into his mouth without a single hesitation. Not even to question whether or not it was that kind of fairy cake, the dusty kind, as he simply had a gut reaction to a gift that he could not explain. "You're an absolute life saver," He nodded with the beat, trying to talk over it as his friend did. Kai simply waved the craving off as munchies. "Zebra? No! Wait. Do you mean the anatomy-ly correct horse near Charms? I mean, I guess it has stripes," He laughed, "It's like, wow! Right there, my guy, like? Wow." Within seconds, the rest of the cake was gone. "I'm guessin' you saw something else. What's in this, anyway?" Kai lifted the wrapper momentarily, before shoving it into his pocket. Again, he nodded wildly as soon as Llewellyn mentioned his sister, "Oh man, right? It's totally bodacious! Fuckin' shredded every party I've ever gone to."
