So, this is a thing

Post by Mirai Kei on May 22, 2016 12:00:59 GMT -5
Mirai watched as Travis decided, he seemed worried about something, which was fair. Mirai couldn’t control what he saw, only if he looked or not, and he was offering to look. As the man nodded, Mirai started to worry. What was so bad that Travis didn’t want him to see? Travis started listing off methods before he seemed to get worried and started back-peddling. “We’ll go with Tarot cards then,” Mirai said picked up the tarot deck, shuffling it absent mindedly, “It’s the least invasive and most open to interpretation. If you want me to do more later, fell free to stop by my office. I have stuff to look more in depth there.” Closing his eyes, he started the process. There where certain things he could do to make seeing easier, just like there were thinks he normally did to avoid accidentally noticing stuff. Controlling his breathing, he stopped his foot tapping on the floor. He removed the ring from his pinky finger, placing it in one of his pockets. He’d enchanted the ring a while back to constantly change temperature, so that it would contract and expand, as a constant distraction that he could focus on if he ever felt he was going to see something. With that gone he could feel the tugging sensation inside of him growing, pulling him towards things he normally tried not to see. He dealt out the cards; a simple past, present, future spread. He breathed deeply before opening his eyes, flipping the first card over as he did. A cat is holding open a lion's mouth as the beast tries to close it, however the card was facing away. [x] “Past: Strength, Reversed. Defeat, Self-Indulgence, Weakness. Since coming to Hogwarts you’ve accepted your lot in life, refusing to move forward or try to achieve more.” Moving to the next card he flipped it over: a cat sat on top of a shelf above a wheel covered in writing that once revealed the cat spins. [x] “Present: The Wheel of Fortune. Change, the end of a cycle, good fortune and change for the better. You're life is or is about to start moving in a new direction.” He moves his hand to the last one now, flipping it over. Two tuxedo cats brush up against each other happily, both purring. [x] “Future, Two of Cups. Balance, mutual respect and harmony in a relationship. Love which is nurturing, and equally fulfilling. This relationship while it may start strong, could come undone by time. The choice is yours.” Finally done, Mirai slouched in his chair, exhausted: channeling always took a lot out of him. Looking up at Travis he did his best to smile. “Sorry if I said anything I shouldn’t have. If I try and control what I say my focus falls apart. Also, just so you know none of that is set in stone. If a person hears the future they can, occasionally, change it, Though be careful you don’t cause it to happen by trying to prevent it.”

If life ain't just a joke, then why are we laughing?

Kei pushed his joke aside, and Trent slumped back onto the desk, bringing a knee to his chest with a frown threatening the corners of his lips. He knew better than to expect much else, but if Kei claimed that Tarot was the least invasive, he would have to listen to him. The last time he had his fortune told with cards, he admitted a lot of things he didn't care to admit. Katherine had that way about her, though she didn't have any sort of sight like Kei did. But she paused in between each card, having done the celtic cross and wanting him to tell her whether or not she was correct. She was a bit correct. Especially when it came to The Tower being his future, though he had no idea why at the time.
The werewolf listened carefully, taking a point to keep quiet in between each card. Kei was fairly delicate with it, and it helped that Kei knew at least an shade of his past. But his presence was dubbed to be "on the right path", and he felt so quick to deny that. Was this really any better for him? He supposed these were the peaceful days of his life, where he had a solid career and was pissing off less and less people. Was it because he was on the route to shutting his stupid mouth? He wasn't sure.
But when Kei got to his future, Trent was at a loss.
He lifted the card, examining the cats so enchanted by each other. "No... You didn't say anything wrong," Trent began, though his brow furrowed in frustration. He couldn't claim this was fake. This was what he was given. This was real. Even if Kei wasn't a seer, there was an ounce of weight behind the fate of cards. That was divination, after all, and people could push it away all they wanted. It was always going to mean something.
"The Lovers, eh?" He snorted, but the scowl remained, "I guess it doesn't have to be romantic, does it? Some sort of platonic mishmash." He couldn't see it, but he wasn't about to throw any more depressing weight onto his new found company. No matter what, however, he feared he would ruin it. "The choice is mine..." He repeated, before placing the card back on the desk with careless fingers. Back when he was younger, he would have prayed for this to be an opportunity in romantic love. Now he wasn't so sure.
He pondered this. "Well, whoever it is, I hope they're sexy," Trent joked and shoved a chunk of chocolate in his mouth, to shut himself up for a moment. Green eyes glared out the window behind Kei, the snow falling so helplessly, yet that was its nature. He was like snow, he could say, only he wasn't that level of pure. Tainted. Black blood, poorly chosen words. He could feel the scar on his back ooze, or perhaps that was simply his imagination. He hated being so absolutely angst riddled in pleasant company. He was covering himself with bad jokes to hide it.
"Very interesting, though. I think... Maybe it's best if I don't dwell on it, y'know?" He admitted, "If I'm getting my dick wet, I don't want to screw myself over by trying too hard." Another laugh, but now his brow was crumbling at himself. Oh boy, he was saying really stupid shit now.

Mirai was glad he hadn’t said anything too awkward. Closing his eyes, he started to recall what had transpired, and was able to remember most of it. The way he tried to explain it to others was like being under hypnosis or in a dream. You are aware of what’s going on and what you’re doing while you’re there. But once you come out of it, you have to spend time if you want to remember. When Travis said “The Lovers”, Mirai shook his head. Some of what he’d learned in divination was about controlling and using his “third eye”, but most of it was on memorizing the different symbols and what everything meant.
“The Lovers would be a stronger version of the Two of Cups. More stable and world shattering. That’s a relationship which is grounded deeply in both people, like their entire world shifting. That one,” he said pointing at the card, “is a bit more open to interpretation."
It was a good thing too. Mirai wasn’t sure how well Travis would be able to handle this card, and a relationship like the lover’s card predicted would probably end badly for him. There was such a thing as rejecting one’s future, and normally it came with disastrous consequences.
"Well, whoever it is, I hope they're sexy," Travis said, pulling Mirai from his thoughts.
He laughed. Fair. Though considering the school now that wasn’t really even a question. He watched as Travis’s eyes turned, and followed his line of sight to the window. The snow was falling gently outside. Just like it had that night when he’d visited Japan…. Long black hair and pale white skin… A gesture of invitation in the snow… Nearly forgetting everything… A hand on his shoulder pulling him away from her… He shook the thoughts from his head. It wasn’t good to dwell on things. Especially not on almost dying. But snow always brought back those thoughts….
“Yuki-Onna,” he muttered to himself.
I was then that noticed Travis and said something. Caught up in memories, he’d failed to listen, to be fair that happened to him fairly often. He was surprised he’d been able to keep his focus for as long as he had.
“Sorry, what did you say?” he said, “I didn’t catch that.”

Mirai assured him it was open for interpretation, and Trent nodded knowingly. He supposed that was for the best. It was likely, throughout it all, that he was just going to have some form of stability for a while. And he could deal with that, really. It was worrisome, the idea that it could fall apart at any moment, but... Wasn't that any relationship? Why worry about the what-if's, the possibilities that something bad could happen, when that was simply how life went on? But he wanted some form of affection, something more than just friends. He wasn't sure if that was worth the effort, anyhow. If he had no interest in trying, why would anyone else? He hardly noticed that Kei had drifted away as well, until the man whispered something. " Yuki-Onna." What, like the ghost? Trent had read plenty of books involving that name. But. There had to be women just named that, right? Mirai was musing about a former fling, and Trent could understand that. Fucking weird that a girl was named after some ghost, but maybe Kei was into some kinky shit. Another thing Trent could understand. Perhaps Mirai was just being kind. He was dodging all the awful slop that spewed from Trent's mouth. Or maybe he just didn't care at all. Trent smirked finally, leaning in once again, fingers grasping the edge of the desk. "You know, Kei," He chuckled then, green eyes tracing the man's expression, "You're an alright guy. But don't tell anyone I said that, they'll get jealous." A joke, but really he was just being a softy, and people didn't have any right knowing he had that side to him. "Well," Trent took in the mess around them, the movie reels stacked high in his bookshelves and peppering his general office area, "Since you were so kind to demonstrate your skills, perhaps I can demonstrate mine." His smile widened coyly, though his fingers met with the case of a bad, old muggle movie about boomboxes outside girls' windows, "It'd only be fair."
if u wanna continue im down!! tho this seems like a good settling point B)

Mirai laughed, pretty sure Travis was only half joking. “Don’t worry I won’t tell as soul,” he said, drawing an x over his heart, “Cross my heart.”Watching as he picked up the movie he smiled. It had been awhile since he’d watched any sort of television. “Sounds good to me,” he said, “oh, and feel free to call be Mirai."Short Ending Response, love these two
